“Hukum…” Dhara’s voice was barely above a whisper, trembling like a candle flickering in the wind. She turned slightly toward him, her eyes glistening, searching his face as though clinging to one last thread of hope. “Hukum… so you’ll never kiss me again?”

The question hung in the air like a fragile feather—light in sound, but heavy in meaning.

Samar looked at her, his expression unreadable at first, but resolute. His silence stretched just long enough to draw the breath from her chest.

Then came the answer.

Firm. Final.

“NO.”

Samar's reply was quick and firm. "No."
There was no hesitation in his voice. It was a mix of control, emotion, and a decision made for what he thought was the right reason.

He didn't say "no" to hurt her. He said it because he believed it was the right thing to do-for both of them.

He wanted to protect Dhara, to let her grow and find her own path. He believed that what they shared had gone too far, and stopping now was the only way to avoid more pain.

But for Dhara, that one word crushed her.

She felt like something heavy had hit her heart. Her legs gave way, and she collapsed onto the bed. Her eyes filled with shock and pain. She let out a deep sigh, almost like her soul had given up. That "no" hit her harder than if he had said he didn't love her.

She had accepted that her love might always be one-sided. But when he said he would never kiss her again-it felt like he had taken away something important.

For Dhara, his kiss wasn't just about romance or desire. It made her feel safe. It was a silent promise that he would be there for her, to care for her, and protect her. Every time he kissed her, she felt like her pain faded for a while.

He had always been a man of actions more than words. He never said much, but his kiss was his way of showing care. It was the only way she truly felt close to him. And now, he had taken that away.

She looked at him with tear-filled eyes.
"Hukum, you can't do this to me," she said, her voice shaking.

Samar tried to explain. "Dhara, I'm doing this for both of us. We need to understand what's real and what's not. Please try to see that."

"Noooo," Dhara replied, heartbroken.
She quickly pulled him towards her, making him fall on the bed beside her.

Her hands held his face. She brought her face close to his, and their breaths mingled. Her tears ran down nonstop.

"Hukum... please don't do this," she whispered, and then softly kissed his lips.

"Dhara, pl-please don't," Samar said as he pulled away. He tried to move back, but she grabbed him again, holding on tightly.

He knew he should stop her. He knew this wasn't right. But he also saw how broken she looked. Her eyes told him everything-how afraid she was of losing him, how lonely she felt. He didn't know what to do anymore.

Dhara pushed him onto the bed and sat on top of him. Her eyes were full of sadness and helplessness.

"Sorry," she whispered, her lips shaking. And then she kissed him again.

Samar slowly closed his eyes and pulled her closer. He stopped trying to fight it. He gave in. He realized he couldn't control everything. Sometimes, you just have to let go.
