"We need to draw a line," Samar continued. "A clear one. We can't let ourselves cross it again."
And then, his tone shifted-more serious, almost cold. "A king and a servant... should never cross that line," he said, his voice low but steady. "It's not right. It's a crime."
Each word was sharp, not shouted, but firm-like a door quietly closing.
His words hit her like a punch to the chest, crushing yet another piece of her already broken heart.
Inside, she was falling apart. Her feelings were all over the place-sadness, helplessness, pain-like waves crashing again and again inside her. She had always loved him deeply, despite everything. And now, it felt like all that love was being thrown aside like it meant nothing.
In the dim light of the room, Dhara pulled the blanket closer to her chest, her tears falling freely. They wouldn't stop. Her heart felt heavy, like something inside her had snapped.
But he didn't stop. His words kept cutting her, and she didn't fight it. She let him say what he wanted, even if every word tore her from the inside.
Suddenly, she felt the bed shift-he was about to get up. Her heart panicked.
Without thinking, she opened her eyes and grabbed his hand quickly, holding on tightly.
"Hukum, please don't go," she whispered, her voice shaking with emotion.
She couldn't watch him walk away. Not after everything. Not after how far she had come just to be near him.
The thought of him leaving-just like that-without even looking back, was unbearable. It felt like her heart was being ripped apart.
She gripped the blanket tightly with one hand and clutched his wrist with the other, refusing to let him leave. Her eyes pleaded with him, silently asking-Don't leave me. Not now. Not like this.
He tried to pull his hand away, but she only held on tighter.
"Hukum... we already crossed that line a long time ago," Dhara whispered, her voice shaking with emotion.
The memories of everything they had shared-every moment of closeness, every unspoken feeling-hung heavy in the silence. Her heart still clung to those memories, refusing to let go.
"So now... what's left to protect?" she asked softly. It wasn't just a question-it was a plea. A plea for him to stay. To stop pushing her away. Her voice trembled, full of hurt and desperation.
She looked into his eyes, searching for even a flicker of the emotions they once shared-hoping, praying, he would still care enough to stay and fix what was breaking between them.
But instead, Samar yanked his hand away from hers. Her eyes filled with fresh tears as she watched him pull away, the space between them growing even wider.
"So now you ask, 'What more is left to cross?'" Samar snapped. His voice was full of frustration. "When we were on the edge of losing ourselves in desire, it was you who stopped me, Dhara. And now you act like it doesn't matter anymore."
He pulled her roughly by the shoulder, forcing her to look at him.
"You have no idea what I'm going through," he said, voice raised, pain clear in his eyes. "Right now, I feel like burning down the whole world-and at the same time, diving into freezing water just to calm this fire inside me."
His outburst was intense, but behind the anger was a deep pain-raw and real.
When Dhara reached out again to hold his hand, Samar pulled away once more. Her fingers hung in the air, empty. That moment broke something inside her. She stared at their parted hands, crying silently.
