The days went on peacefully in their houses, filled with love and affection. One afternoon, Tae was sitting in his company office, lost in thought, when the door suddenly opened and Kook peeked in with a bright smile, saying, “Surprise!” Tae looked up, his face softening immediately into a smile.
“Hey, my little muffin, what are you doing here?” he asked, walking over to hug Kook tightly.
“I finished my meetings early, so I thought maybe it would be nice to see you…and maybe have lunch together,” Kook said, eyes shining.
“Whatever my highness wants,” Tae chuckled, brushing Kook’s cheek with his thumb. “Let’s go.”
As they stepped outside, Kook noticed Tae was a little distracted. He reached for his hand and asked gently, “What’s the matter, bear? You seem a bit lost.”
Tae sighed, looking at their intertwined fingers. “I’ve been thinking about this…I have a business trip tomorrow. Just for one day, in Switzerland. So I was wondering…maybe you’d come with me?”
Kook’s face lit up immediately. “Really? Of course I want to come. Even if it’s only a day, I want to be there with you.”
Tae finally let out the breath he’d been holding, smiling in relief. “Now I’m relieved. I was worried you’d say no. I just want to spend some time with my little muffin.”
Kook grinned and nodded, squeezing his hand. And with that, the two of them walked off together toward the restaurant, ready to enjoy a simple lunch and each other’s company.
They reached the cozy restaurant tucked into a quiet street, the kind of place Tae liked for its privacy and warm atmosphere. As soon as they settled at their table by the window, Kook looked around with a pleased little smile.
“This is nice,” he said, leaning back in his chair. “Did you book this place just for me, Mr. Kim Taehyung?” Tae smirked, picking up the menu. “Oh, so full of yourself. Maybe I did…maybe I didn’t. Who knows?”
Kook rolled his eyes and rested his chin in his palm, studying Tae’s face. “You did. You always do. You can’t resist making me feel special.”
Tae lifted his gaze, his eyes soft. “Well, that part is true. I like seeing you happy.” Kook blushed lightly and looked away, pretending to study the menu. “Stop being cheesy, we’re in public.”
“I’ll be as cheesy as I want,” Tae teased, reaching across to tuck a loose strand of hair behind Kook’s ear. “You love it.”
Kook pressed his lips together to hide a grin, then suddenly leaned in with a mischievous look. “By the way…you didn’t dream about me running away again last night, did you?”
Tae groaned and hid his face behind the menu. “Don’t start.”
“No, really,” Kook continued, voice full of teasing. “Any new plot twists? Maybe I ran away to the jungle this time? Or did I join a circus?”
Tae lowered the menu just enough to glare. “Keep going and I’ll write you a whole drama sequel.” Kook gasped in mock horror. “With more crying and me having secret children?”
“You’re impossible,” Tae muttered, but he was already fighting a smile. Kook tilted his head sweetly. “But you love me.” “Yeah, yeah,” Tae grumbled, rolling his eyes. “I love you even when you tease me about my trauma.”
Kook laughed and leaned forward to press a soft kiss to Tae’s cheek. “Good. Because I’m never going to let you forget that dream.”
Their food arrived, and they spent the meal sharing bites, bickering over who ordered better, and sneaking little glances when they thought the other wasn’t looking. Every now and then, Tae would brush Kook’s cheek with his thumb or sneak in a kiss on his knuckles.
