Clicking his cane along the tiled floor of the extensive living room, Lord Ezekiel paced from one end to another with a deadly frown resting on his features. The old man was waiting for his son, lord Yael, to return from his day so he could begin what he had planned to inquire and ask him face to face about the complains he has been receiving right after he returned from his tour. The way his colleagues and old alliances had bombarded Ezekiel with accusing questions regarding the obnoxious decision his son was imposing, the former lord was burning with anger by the time he reached home.
In his mind, Yael was already at mistake and that thought held his son accountable.
Ezekiel didn't notice when Yael entered through the main door; he was immersed in calculating his words when Nova's voice, greeting Yael, fell over his ears and he turned to look at the door. There, in the entrance, stood lord Yael carrying an aura that screamed danger, a menacing look in his eyes and his large stature dominating the whole living room like a king.
The former lord was amazed, tongue-tied for a few seconds, as he marvelled at his heir as if under a spell. He stared at his son like he had never done before, how dominating and collected Yael was, how he had assembled the scattered empire in a span of few days and how well he was respected while he gathered the memories of his early life.
The former lord found his son a worthy man, a brave ruler of Pyro and his chest swelled with pride
Yael had noticed the small gathering of his father, uncle and younger brother first thing after he entered; he could already picture an argument brewing ahead that Yael wasn't interested in. The lord was tired after a fruitful day and he needed rest... therefore, without saying, he strode past his family in a quiet jog and started to ascend the stairs towards his bedroom.
Until...
"Yael!...." Ezekiel called him loudly, making his son halt in his tracks and the rest of the two jerk under the effect. The older didn't intend to shout that loud, but his voice came raised in command, all serious and daunting, that it was evident to Yael that something unpleasant was on its way. He turned to look at his father, mirroring a scowl on Ezekiel's face, and stared at the other darkly.
"Where have you been? I was waiting for you since I got back" The older, considering the eerie silence between them a cue, started. He asked smartly, gently coaxing his son for his whereabouts and weaving his way into the conversation, but Ezekiel couldn't fool Yael one bit. The lord, able to read his father quite easily, arched a brow in response and completely turned to face his father.
"Been busy with my work, do you need anything?" he asked, brow still raised and fists clenched by his side. Ezekiel faltered a bit seeing Yael's unapproachable demeanour, he took a few steps in Yael's direction and heaved a sigh before another question.
"Well.....there are a few things that had been brought to my attention, that I believe will cause problems for us in the future" the older sketched out his concerns, trying to make his son understand how important what he was saying, was.
"And?" Yael answered briefly and nonchalantly, dark eyes of his didn't stray from boring in his father's while he stood on the stairs, looking down at Ezekiel. Meanwhile, the former lord was losing patience and his composure all together, Yael's uninterested behaviour felt like a language of utter rebel against his father and that fact finally started to have control over Ezekiel's mind.
Perhaps, Lord Ezekiel wanted his son to understand the severances of the brewing matters like he did and Yael wanted nothing to do with it.
Whatever be the scene, Ezekiel was done.
