"Three!" Chevy mentioned with a firm glare, "Three of my people are murdered in the alley and five on the chase and I declare you responsible for the loss I can never redeem" He shouted by the end of his outburst, chest heaving up and down, as he stared at the back of the sire murderously while the other kept silence. Horace raised a brow after Chevy was done, he looked between the gangster and his sire before he shook his head disappointingly. According to him, another failure was readily merging with the list of failures they were supporting. Since the arrival of Yael back to Pyro and his superior control over things, there wasn't a single day that Horace had spent relaxed and counted the benefits he would usually reap on a daily basis.
The lord was cunning and fast; he was making speedy recoveries for the losses in the past and plucking pawns of enemies, embedded in his system, like thorns from a garden filled with roses. Putting it all, what Yael was doing, together seemed unrivalled in all senses now. The man was proving protective of his empire and his loyal people and that posed a direct threat to the characters against the lord.
Arrest of Carter at the port and the killing of Chevy's men added another example.
"That bitch of Yael is no weakling; she is freaking fast and ruthless and upon that are those two bastards." Chevy continued, his anger rising with every word while Horace and sire listened "Just because of them, I have suffered a great loss. Not only they killed my men and hurt my wagon, that right hand of Yael flew with the boy to another dimension as well!" he screeched with utter distaste, throat constricting with tenseness and blood boiling but he never got a response in return until many minutes flew in silence.
Sire kept smoking while he stared in the dark, clear sky and Horace sipped his drink, not interested in anyone else's business.
"I want compensation!" Then Chevy barked loudly, gaining the attention he needed, as he straightened his spine to showcase he meant business. The sire didn't respond but Horace finally looked up and decided to address the itch of the classless gangster portraying entitlement in front of the only elite class.
"And what kind of compensation are you expecting?" he asked calmly, maintaining what his position should speak as he raised his chin inquiringly.
"Financial, of course...." Chevy answered like it was obvious, "My people are not similar to the ones Pyro have. They are tough-skinned Malians, fighters of one of a kind, which I think you cannot provide me with", he stated, dissing the authority of his employers, and earned a disgusted glare from Horace. The latter parted his lips to deliver a piece of his mind, but a loud, booming voice of Sire intervened and the meeting room fell quiet.
"Enough!" The older roared, piercing his intense glare through Chevy's skull as he said, "You have said enough, Chevy", he warned sternly, eyes dark and voice loud. Chevy lowered his gaze immediately, he cursed the times he accepted offers from that clever old man and dug himself into a hole where all he could get were insults, losses and an amount of money that couldn't satisfy his needs.
It was a lose-lose now that he thinks.
"A scum like you is a demanding dog for a loss nobody cares about" The older spat venomously "But what about the job you failed at for keeping the lord in Malia, what about the troubles that detective's investigation will bring once he spits everything he got in front of Yael, and what about the business me and my allies are losing because Yael is back and regaining everything we have worked hard to get for ourselves!" he asked angrily, nose flaring and eyes narrow, while he glared at the mighty gangster. Horace agreed with Sire on every point; he nodded along with the older only for Chevy to feel pressured and lower his eyes more, if that was possible.
