It was unfortunate that DJ couldn't get the sweet sleep of comfort even after being blessed with the room, a bed and a man there for his protection. The boy was a nervous wreck, tossing and turning his tiny body to find a suitable spot until he was tired, but sleep never came and neither did any relaxation.

Flashes of those scary men in the festival, who were there for Yael and the detective, crossed his mind like a repetitive vision. The horrifying memory of them jerked DJ out of his sleep for the umpteenth time, eventually making him retire on finding rest for the night.

Something was in the air, something wrong that was approaching, and only the thought of it held DJ captive.

The need to keep an eye out for his back and seek solace under a giant rock so the world couldn't see him gnawed at him. The tension grew stronger each second, and DJ wished for the people of his well-wisher to appear sooner and rescue them in one piece before anything.

Unable to keep his guard down and get the much-needed rest for a stable mindset, he stared at the ceiling to the flamingo bird on his belly from time to time. Insecurities urged him to shake awake the lord sleeping beside him so he could share the burden of his turmoil, but then the lost courage couldn't serve the purpose.

Little did he know, the lord was already awake.

Yael couldn't sleep a wink for the night, just like his rescuer. Silently lying with his back facing DJ, the older heard every huff and puff and every other adorable sound that came from his apparent wife behind him. It was evident how uncomfortable and anxious DJ was due to the unforgiving circumstances; the constant squirminess and uneven breathing suggested a hint of his mental state, but there was nothing really helpful to subside the building anxiety.

Yael too was worried; the man was on a clever watch from the moment they had stepped in Malia, but he was more at a calm pace, close to not obvious unlike Jerry who was worried sick beside him. Although Yael had multiple schemes about catering for the distressed boy, he kept his quiet and listened to every detail DJ provided through his cautious movement.

It was until....

The silence of the room was disturbed when, out of nowhere, an echo of screams and yells from outside in the lobby resonated.

DJ sprang up on his place, breathing ragged and eyes wide, as he stared at the closed door with uncertainty. Different scenarios whirled passed his active mind; several possibilities for what could be happening on the other sight made DJ sweat profusely, making him slip into fight or flight.

Meanwhile, Yael shifted under the sheets and slowly stepped onto the cold ground as subtly as possible. He slid his hand under the pillow and pulled out the pistol he had hidden there before going to bed and rested it against his thigh.

The noise outside the door grew louder each passing minute, a series of threats and roars exhibited a sort of war zone that was hidden from sight.

While he listened intently and focused on anything dangerous that lurked right outside his door, the man picked up notes of small whimpers coming from his back. Taking notice, he turned his head to glance at DJ, who he thought would be in bed, scared like a little lamb, only to find him behind him, face all covered like before and ready with his backpack and his bird.

"T-they ar-are h-here..." he informed, confirming his suspicion from the start. DJ had tears in his eyes, those shiny orbs were painting a distressed mind while he stared at the older with what felt like a merge of forced courage and peek helplessness. He clutched the little bird to his chest firmly when a bang outside resounded, as a look of pure horror took over his features, making him look more breathtaking than ever.
