The moment Ezekiel's eyes landed on his only son, the world around him stopped. A flood of emotions crashed through his chest like a hurricane, and the old man felt his eyes burning with involuntary tears. He stared at his son like a miracle that came so alive it was impossible, and smiled through building tears. Six months—a long period for a longing father—that he had invested in the well-deserving search for Yael and waited to see a glimpse of him alive and healthy.
The moment was surreal without a doubt, and the fruit of those efforts and resources was preserved as well.
In the form of Yael.
Nova and Leo weren't far behind in collecting the special event to their memory. The uncle welcomed his beloved nephew with open arms and a blinding smile while Leo stood by his father in attention. The scenario felt majestic, if anything. The mere presence of the 'Lord' had filled the void and loneliness of the manor like a fitted puzzle piece as all eyes racked over the tired form of their awaited guest.
Even the staff had crowded into the corners of the hall.
There stood the Lord of Pyro in the middle of his people in the extensive living room in all his glory, the fierce look in his eyes taking in the curious glances, proud nose pink and pointy, chin tipped like a king and nonchalance at its finest on his handsome face that everyone had in their memory.
The only thing that remained slightly off was the health of the man, malnourishment peaked through his wounded body wrapped in a gauze while Seva held him around his waist for him to lean his weight over.
Ezekiel noticed all of that with a frown on his previously emotional face. That was not the lord of Pyro he remembered; that was not his son. The Yael he knew was a charming, daunting man who was built like a tank and had a terrifying look to his personality, a man who dressed himself in expensive, crisp suits and worked till his heart desired.
But the man who stood in front of him looked nothing like that.
A dishevelled, weak and injured Yael held by Seva was all he appeared, raising questions about the brutality of his abductors and the tell-tale of those six months he wasn't around.
Needless to say, Ezekiel wasn't happy.
Wiping his eyes swiftly, the former lord jolted from his glued place and approached Yael slowly until he was face to face with his son and staring at the other without a word. Yael, on the other hand, didn't say anything as well; he held his gaze with Ezekiel boldly and stared back while the rest of the beholders watched them silently.
DJ was also one of them, curious and silent as always.
A sheen layer of curiosity rushed past Yael's inquiring orbs while he peered into Ezekiel's soul, but it vanished as soon as it appeared when Ezekiel started before his very eyes.
"Yael..." he whispered as if testing his own courage to say the name, the thought that Yael might vanish under his touch raced at the back of his mind, but he negated it as he slowly raised his trembling hand towards his son. Hesitant yet gentle, Ezekiel placed his warm palm against Yael's cheek, and a sigh left his lips he didn't know he held for so long.
And then his expressions changed like a switch turned in his mind.
"I won't let them see another light the moment I get my hands on them...." he gritted out gruffly, voice an octave lower and menacing as he said, while Yael watched his father attentively, he calculated the older's words and the weight behind, but remained quiet nonetheless. A weird strangeness had also appeared on Ezekiel's face that DJ was quick to catch,h but like all others, the boy kept his quiet.
