The clock struck two, turning the night into another spell, and the rain started again. Loud thunder bolted in the sky, clapping a roaring chemistry, while fat raindrops thrummed against the earth like dancing fairies. The mansion stood silent and doused under the natural shower, illuminated by beautiful garden lights and charming shrubs, unaware that a raging storm had passed through a fragile being residing inside it and made him more helpless and solemn by every second.

On the other hand, Nyxara paced around the living room here and there while she kept an eye on the ticking time and her tab both. Seconds turned into minutes and minutes into an hour until her patience was over and the wait was fulfilled. She turned on her heels, hearing the door behind her open a creek, and sighed in relief when her eyes fell on Yael walking inside.

The lord was drenched in rainwater, battering against the windows of the mansion, and had a frown on his face. Long hair a mess and shirt sticky to his large, built like a second skin, as he marched his way to the centre of the living room. Nyxara watched Yael didn't say a word before he raised his dark orbs to the upper floor and looked around attentively, seeking a certain someone he was there for. She wanted to speculate and produce a smile in her clever mind, but before that, Yael cleared his throat and darted his gaze back to Nyxara.

"Is he asleep?" he asked, ruffling his hair to get the water out as he did.

"I don't think so, sire. The last I checked, he was awake," Nyxara answered, glancing at the specific door on the first floor and making Yael follow her gaze. The lord shifted on his feet with a nod and folded his sleeves upwards to his elbows.

"I will see him right now, and after that, we have to go home." The older stated as he moved, and Nyxara bowed. Climbing up the stairs, Yael thought about many things at once. The incident at DJ's place was serious, it was indicative of future hazards that might pile in Yael's or—worse— Detective's life if they didn't drop the investigation.

And although the said investigation was a mere attempt to find out the culprit of an obnoxious stunt such as the kidnapping of Lord of Pyro, the threatening attack on DJ's apartment proved it being more than that. The fact that the abduction of Lord Yael was far more complicated than it appeared already messed with Yael's mind; someone or a certain someone was deeply affected by the exposure the investigation could manifest, and that conclusion made the older more determined.

Knocking on the door once, Yael pushed his way inside silently and entered the room. The dim lights and utter silence inside made him halt for a second. He looked around with a frown and soon spotted the boy near the open window with his small hands trying to catch raindrops in his palms. Cladded in a long shirt and a pair of fuzzy house slippers, DJ looked ethereal, all washed up and clean... no blood specs and dirt covering his skin compared to the time when he was brought to the mansion.

There was also a tray of wrapped food unattended on the table, which made the lord shake his head.

The younger looked innocent, free of any worry that might send him into an anxiety attack, and sort of happy that Yael didn't want to intervene and keep staring, but then he had limited time on his hands.

Therefore....

"Detective...." Yael called out gently and watched how the younger jumped to his place, startled to his core as he whirled around on his heels. DJ stared at lord with wide eyes, not expecting any visits anytime soon, while Yael sauntered over to the window and stood across the younger, facing him.

DJ averted his gaze

"Are you feeling better?" Yael asked, peering at DJ's face to see if the boy was really ok. DJ's eyes were the only main features that talked more than him. Yael was used to the fact by now, and so he usually searched for the eyes of younger and the stories that lay behind them to get to know what he wanted. However, this time, DJ only nodded with his head hung low, much to Yael's disappointment.
