Smoking a third cigarette in a row, in a span of an hour, Lord Yael stood by the large window in his office, watching the pouring rain thrumming against the glass wall between him and the weather outside. The man, lost in thought, reminisced every cute encounter he had with the detective so far and smiled to himself when DJ's beautiful face surfaced in those memories. Yael perceived DJ as an enigma, a mystery that was easy to solve at first glance yet so complex in nature that the lord felt the need to stay in focus before the boy or else, he would lose himself in a trance from where it is difficult to come back.

DJ was shy to approach practically anything but he was brave enough to counter the scariest man like Chevy, he was fragile with respect to his body yet showcased a flicker of the world of crime in him through his weird tactics and left Yael to wonder in his alone time. For what Yael had learned, DJ was smart and active ... perhaps more than people his age ... and he was beautiful in a way that made people do anything on his whim if he wanted. The detective was attractive, captivating and reasonably pliant... he was sharp too but only when he needed to be... and that's what made him a perfect Slytherin in the world where predators were dangerous and prey cunning.

'If it wasn't for his health, DJ was capable of any criminal undertaking on his own.' Yael thought, looking outside at the cloudy sky, as he clicked open his case to produce another cigarette.

Even earlier in the day, at breakfast, when DJ requested to accompany Yael to his office, the boy looked so fragile and innocent he made it difficult for the lord to stay focused on his plea. Yael marvelled at the boy from top to bottom, eyeing the small journal DJ had in his hand along with a pencil case, and criticised his brain for supporting involuntary zealous thoughts. Events from many nights before at the deck circulated his brain without effort, the shy protest against Yael's chest, the narrow almost offended gaze when lord teased him and that breathtaking close proximity he had shared with the detective, all of that surfaced in his brain mercilessly and Yael dropped his fork on the plate with a clank.

DJ had flinched but soon a smile graced his gorgeous face when the lord agreed to take him to the office. He watched the older leaving the room with heavy steps, half-eaten breakfast left on the table, and quickly followed but not before DJ snatched a piece of bread and a fruit cup from Yael's plate for himself and rushed after the lord.

From that moment on, DJ had occupied every corner of Yael's mind to its fullest. The lord had a hard time thinking about the problems he had in his mafia, with his father and other pressing matters, since the detective and his odd shenanigans were all Yael had on his mind.

It wasn't until the knock on the door pulled Yael out of his thinking that he turned to face the sluggish comer entering the room.

"I am never doing work at the ports in this rain again...... ask someone else next time please," Leo started as soon as he entered, he marched towards the grand desk of the lord and slapped a bunch of files on the table with a huff before he melted into the guest chair.

Meanwhile, Yael stared outside nonchalantly, busy smoking his thoughts and enjoying the scenery. He didn't respond to his brother for a few minutes but kept his indifferent demeanour until Leo had to crane his neck backwards and glance at the older skeptically.

"You heard what I said right? That I won't do the rain duties?" Leo repeated "What happened to you?" then he asked with his brows scrunched and eyes squinted and to his surprise, earned a chuckle from the lord. Leo watched as Yael stubbed his cigarette in the ashtray and walked behind his chair leisurely, he then leaned forward on his desk like a maniac investigator and smiled at Leo all fakely.

"Rain or not.... You know you have to go Leo" Yael menaced evilly, lighter on his tone, and Leo scowled in return "So better deliver what you are here for and get back to work" he ordered mischievously, completely unlike the lord the empire was used to, and Leo noticed a spark of something different in Yael's dark eyes.
