Whistling and humming a tune under his breath, a melody he had picked from the club earlier, Tom entered the vacant street of Ferra Market late in the night. Dishevelled clothes, tired body and grumbly stomach told the story of the adventures he had been engaged in, the adventures he indulged in to retrieve something valuable for DJ. And although being exhausted to his bones and wanting nothing but to slump on his bed for a good thirty hours, Tom still managed to hype himself for a visit to his friend's place... who he thought might be seeking his sight and waiting for updates as per their agreement for the date.

Earlier at the club, Devon had explained how DJ had stopped by and asked for Tom with a pair of hopeful eyes that no one could actually deny. The boy had also effectively changed Tom's plan to ditch the younger for the night and shift the meeting on the next day because in all honesty.....Tom was ready to do just that.

But then, DJ's beautiful face and his disappointed frown crossed his mind, and Tom surrendered willingly. Besides, empty pockets and a reduced account of Tom Blue were rumbling from starvation.

Climbing up the rickety staircase, he kept a watchful eye over the steps ahead. It wasn't unknown for Bachelor to jump scare the visitor, dashing from one corner to another at the speed of light and making the person stumble in horror. Tom had that experience in the past way too much than his liking as he approached the second floor cautiously.

However, aside from Bachelor, a dark, creepy feeling settled over the apartment complex, also clawed at Tom's nerves and urged him to gear up mentally. Sweat travelled down his spine like a slithering snake while he breathed in through his nose to keep calm and steady. He sauntered carefully, climbing up the creaky boards, wondering about the buff, scary mouse before clouds of disturbingly putrid smell fogged his senses that surrounded the floor DJ resided.

There was no sign of Bachelor and there was no sign of his favourite homeowner as well.

On the last step Tom stood firm and attentive as he surveyed the floor under his darkening gaze, the flickering lights, the mud-printed hallway and by the entrance door of the DJ's apartment, lying flat, the crooked signboard of the Detective's advertisement breathing its last breaths.

Tom hurried over, feet stomping harshly on the ground as he rushed to get a closer look at the sign. But then he halted mid-rush with a gasp, eyes wide with horror and back sticky with sweat. There on the ground, beside the advertisement neon sign lay an unmoving body, the corpse of a resident of the building, dead and emanating a smell, succumbed under the weight of the grilled door of DJ's apartment.

Bachelor!!!

The poor being was gone from the world, got caught in the fight of someone else and lost his healthy life in the process.

Tom stared at the dead mouse for longer than necessary; he covered his nose when finally, bile roused in his throat from the unbearable smell and he had to step back and look around.

From then on, Tom collected details of the aftermath of a brutal scene at DJ's place and sucked in a breath for any outcome that might resemble Bachelor's fate. The front door not present in its place safe and sound produced a spark of worry in Tom and he entered the apartment carefully. He stepped around the clutter on the ground, the green apples squished under heavy weight and soda bottles shattered to pieces, while keeping a conscious eye outside as well so no one surprises him. Examining the blown-over, broken door fallen on either side of the room, Tom paced ahead with the purpose to look for the only valuable he considered in the place. He grimaced instantly, putting a hand over his nose to prevent the troubled oxygen, when he felt his nose burning with another merge of unbearable smell coming from the right of the room.
