I sat on my bed and stared out the window. The sky was a pale blue. My phone vibrated on my dresser. It drew my attention there. I got up from the bed to check my phone. It was 5:39pm and I had received a text message from my friend, Simon.
Simon Heathling:
Hey Kate. What's up? R u ready for the dance yet?Kate McFarland:
I'm good. And I'm almost ready. I still have a while to get ready and I still have to eat dinner. Maybe we could head over there at around 6:40?Simon Heathling:
Sounds good. See u then.I checked the time then put down the phone. 5:41pm. I stood in front of the body mirror in my room and stared at my baggy, grey, sweatshirt, my black leggings and wool socks. I had changed my clothes into a loose white crop top with pretty blue and pink flower decor on it, and some dark blue high waist shorts. My necklace had been untucked from my shirt how I always wore it when I had gotten changed. It glistened in the light in the room. I stared at the small emerald necklace lined with 14 karat rose gold and slightly smiled. I tucked it in my shirt again and walked back downstairs.
