After the dance, Simon walked me home. He messaged me when he got back home. But I was already asleep. The next morning. I checked my phone. It was 11:20am and I had 2 new text messages.
Simon Heathling:
Hey. I got home fine. And I noticed that guy u were with. He seemed cool, I guess. What happened? Did he give u his number?? Tell me all of it!!Simon is kinda... Flamboyant.
Simon Heathling:
Oh!! And I need to tell u about that girl I met. She was pretty and all. But. Like. She kinda had a really big mouth. All she did was complain. And she was a really bad kisser. And she kept stepping on me when we danced. Ugh.I told Simon everything over text messages. Then, I put down my phone. And went to eat breakfast. The kitchen is empty. So I look in the living room.
"Thats weird..."
I say out loud although I am alone.
"Oh well.."
I head back into the kitchen and pop a toaster strudel into the toaster. I stand in front of the toaster as it cooks. The toaster pops and I put the icing on my pastry.
"Maybe I should go look for mom.."
I suggest to myself.
"It's weird that she isn't up already and she's usually watching tv until I get up. Or making breakfast."
I look around the house but find nothing. No trace of my mother. Then, I notice the photo of us on her bedside has been knocked off and shattered. There's blood on the glass.
