When I had walked back into the kitchen, dinner was ready. I quickly stuffed my face with the food provided on my plate. And as I finished, the doorbell rang. I rushed over to answer it. It was Simon. A boy my age. He had blonde hair and green eyes. His hair was combed to the side a bit, so he frequently did this cute little hair flip. He was wearing a blue and white striped long sleeve shirt. And tan khakis. With red Vanz sneakers.
"Hi Katie!"
He smiled and went in for the hug. I laughed and hugged him back.
"Hello, Simon."
"Are you ready to leave?"
"Yeah."
As I slipped on my black flats my mother yelled,
"Don't forget! You can call me if you need anything! Any time!"
"Okay, mom. I love you."
"I love you, too."

Kate and Simon had started to walk down the street. The school the dance was being held at wasn't very far away. Only about 10 minutes. It was 6:37pm now.
"So... Kate. How've you been?"
"Good. I mean.. We talk a lot. So nothing has really changed in the last.. What? 4 hours?"
I laughed.
"Not much can change in only 4 hours, to be honest."
I added.
"True, true." He said.
We continued to walk, as the sky darkened. We arrived not too long after. The walk was quite silent after our brief conversation. Simon and Kate waited in the significantly small line to get in. As we waited, Kate seemed very distracted.
"Katie.. Are you alright?"
He smiled a bit awkwardly. I didn't reply. I just continued to stare off into the distance. Simon decided just to quietly wait in line.
