Wolfmother

I need to scull down a bottle of vodka.

I park my car on the driveway of the house at 25 Palmerson Street.  With my hands in my pocket, I walk towards the grand two storey house dreading what I’m about to do. With a sigh, I ring the door bell and wait for it to open. I don’t have to wait long. The door is soon opened by a black haired woman wearing a large ruby necklace. I instantly assume she’s Hotpants’ mother. Who else would wear such a lovely necklace?

“Hello dearie. Who are you?” For a moment I am taken aback. I was expecting a high posh accent and snobby attitude.

“Hi, I’m Amanda. I’m David’s partner for our Media assignment.” I say with a smile.

“Oh that’s right! Come on in!” She says as she ushers me in. I can’t help but run a hand through my blonde mane as regret viciously claws the walls of my chest. I ruined a lovely woman’s home in revenge for what her asshole of a son did to me. I quickly shake my head. She should have done a better job at raising her son. In order to distract myself, I quickly scan my surroundings. The Walker family are rich; filthy rich to the point of nausea. Shiny marble tiles lay under my dirty soles, amazing works of art are placed on the clean white walls and the furniture looks like it cost over two hundred thousand dollars in total.

Am I jealous? No. I think of the many different ways to destroy the property when I find out Hotpants is behind all the shit going on. I destroyed this house once and I can do it again.

“Please where’s David?” I ask, plastering a smile on my face.

“He’s upstairs in his bedroom. It’s the second one to the left.” She replies as she points at the stairs.

“Thank you.” I say as I make my way up the stairs. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to find the room. Wolfmother blasts through the door and the poor bedroom door is filled with offending graffiti. Even Hotpants can’t spell his name correctly. It makes me wonder how he got into Literature in the first place. Without knocking, I force the door open and instantly regret it.

I have just walked in on my worst nightmare: Hotpants getting it on with someone. It’s then I realize why Wolfmother is on full blast in the bedroom. No one would hear the moans and grunts through the electric and bass guitars. Rolling my eyes, I tear my gaze from the offending scene and with a click, turn off the stereo.

A loud shrill erupts from the bimbo under Hotpants and Hotpants stops and turns towards me looking majorly pissed. Ah well, too bad.

“What are you doing here?” David yells when he realizes I’m not a hallucination.

“We need to talk.” I reply. I take a shirt from the floor and throw it at him. “Pop some clothes on will you.” I turn to look at the girl on the bed and I’m quite surprised when I see it’s Sarah. Sarah, on the other hand looks horrified. “You,” I say, pointing at her. “Just wait until Victoria finds out about this!” Sarah pales.

“Please don’t.”

“Fuck you.” I retort as I throw her clothes at her. “Leave. Now.” Sarah doesn’t say another word as a hurriedly puts on her clothes and slips out of the room. I turn towards David and maintain eye contact with him. Looking at his thing is not on my number one list of priorities. I think a lot of girls have seen it anyway. It’s probably covered in herpes. Either way, I don’t care. “What are you up to?”

He snorts as he puts on his boxers. “Well Blondie, I was having a lot of fun until you barged in here.” I wrinkle my nose as I scan the room. Items of clothing, CDs, and even a sandwich are strewn across the floor. What a great place to have sex.

“Who is Viper?” I ask as I turn back my attention to him.

“Viper?” His brow creases and he frowns. He turns around and picks up a shirt. “I don’t know what you’re talking about.”

My reply is instant, “You’re lying.”

He looks at me with dark eyes, “No I’m not.”

I glare at him for a moment before saying, “Yes you are. I can see it in your eyes.”

He bursts out laughing and my eyes narrow. No one laughs at me. No one. “So now you can tell if people are lying by their facial expressions? Nice one Amanda.”

I crack my knuckles, and then shrug my shoulders. I’ll find out anyway. It’s only a matter of time before the truth comes out. I point to the wall behind him and say, “There’s a spider right behind you.”

David’s eyes bulge out of his sockets. He squeals and jumps like a frightened pig, before screaming like a girl. “Oh my balls! Spider! Spider! There’s a spider in my room!” He shrieks as he runs to his bedside table and takes out a book. I watch in amusement as he begins slamming the book on the poor thing. I think I may have just found out something interesting about David tonight. Even better, I think I may have just formulated a plan for Operation Takedown.

I can’t wait to tell Victoria.

I’m about taking my leave when my phone rings. It’s Victoria.

Strange.

I answer the call only to find out it’s Victoria’s mum on the other end of the line. She’s frantic as she screams hysterically. “Victoria is missing,” She says, “Is she with you? I quickly went to buy something from the shops and she wasn't home when I got back!”

My mouth becomes dry. “No. She’s not with me.”

“She’s gone. She’s not here.”

My blood freezes in my veins. My phone slips from my hand and falls to the ground. Victoria’s mother’s words repeat over and over again in my brain like a mixed tape.

Victoria’s missing.
