Eventually forcing her out of the city and into something that she doesn't want to understand or believe is true.

Prologue

Sweat dripped down her skin, this is why she didn't like to be in human form. There was no grace, no glamour to it. She couldn't even be beautiful, she was life, she was Klotho. The spirit of life in human form. Life was beautiful, even though Klotho wasn't perfect.

She felt funny, like she could barely breath, 'You forgot to breath, again.' There were so many things to remember, of course she had played human many times but it had been so long. She personally preferred being an elf is she needed near human. This time she wouldn't be able to get round it, she needed to be human, this man would know. She wasn't even doing this for herself, they wanted to toy with the humans again and sent her, she loved them, she loved humans. She didn't want to do this but the rest did, why they toyed with only one country was beyond her. Desperator was like their play ground.

A man stood in the door way, he was young, probably about twenty-two. Alone. He smoked heavily, a million worries on his shoulders. He had chestnut hair, short and cropped, his clothes were once of good quality but now, well now they were covered in dirt, crumpled and stained. He had the most amazing eyes, they seemed to shine brown, even in his stressed state he was handsome. Maybe the task won't be all that bad.

He didn't even notice her until she had placed her hand on his arm making him jump and almost drop his cigarette. His eyes were slightly glazed and she could see bags under his eyes. 'Poor dear, he's so young.' His brow creased before looking her up and down, "I have no money," His voice was hoarse, that man had obviously been crying before even though wasn't a tear on his cheek. "I don't need your services." He thought she was a whore, 'lovely.'

"I'm not in need of money," Something in her voice made him turn to look at her properly, her ebony hair that fell down her back dissolved into the night, her emerald eyes shone through the dark. "I can't allow a handsome man to look so glum."

"I'm married," His voice faltered when he looked her up and down.

Klotho smiled, "You're in Alvis."

The man smiled uncomfortably, stomping out the cigarette, "I'm not one of those men, I apologise." He started to walk away when she quickly placed her hand on his shoulder, she couldn't lose him.

"I just wanted to talk... about you, nothing else." The man's shoulders stiffened, she could feel the tension through her hand. "My name's Klotho."

"Like the city?" He asked taking her hand gently off his shoulder, he took a while to let go as if feeling her hand.

"I'm very different from the city." Klotho the city was full of nothing but death and disaster which was so ironic.

"I'm Rodger Murri, I have a dying wife and a kid, my mum just died and I run this damn town, you want to talk there you go." He snapped he was shaking uncontrollably.

Without realising it Klotho was hugging him, he was so shocking he held his hands above her before hugging back. She couldn't let him do this alone, the poor dear, he was losing the two most important women in his life. She let him go, he was a little bewildered but didn't recent the physical contact. "You looked like you needed a hug." Klotho looked away a little self concious. "I'm sorry I thought you would appreciate it."

Rodger chuckled, "I do," He took her chin in his hand pulling her up to look at him. "Thank you, Klotho, you'll have to keep quiet about my little outburst. I doubt that's a problem with you. You seem like a person I can trust."

Two Months Later

Someone knocked at the door, Klotho straightened her dress before opening the door. The room was a rental in the inn, she seemed to have an endless amount of money, it wasn't amazing but at least the sheets were changed once a week and she got aa decent meal twice a day.

"Rodger!" She smiled in genuine delight. She hugged him, he was so much better then the first time they met, true none of his problems had gone away but he was more relaxed then the first time they met. She kissed him on the cheek before letting go. "To what do I have this..."

Rodger cut her halfway, his lips pressed against hers. He closed the door stepping forward into her room. He pulled away eyes ablaze, "I'm sorry, I've wanted to do that for ages."

Klotho grinned taking his shirt collar and pulling him towards the bed, "Me too."

Four Months later

Klotho grabbed her clothes, Rodger was asleep hopefully. She was done here, she could go home. That thought didn't sending a thrill through her, 'You have too, what about the thousands of other people to look upon? What about the child? You're pregnant, forget everything these last couple of months, you're done.'

"Klo? What are you doing?" Rodger asked in a half daze, he sat up sheepishly grinning, his hair had grown slightly so that it was flattened to one side. It suited him.

She kissed him lightly on the head, Rodger grabbed her arm and pulled her down into a loving kiss. Klotho pulled away, she looked at Rodger before breaking down and running out of the room.

Rodger stared at the door, grabbed some trousers before running after her. "KLO, KLO."
