Chapter 10

Moon held on to the beam, her fingers ached from holding her weight up. It was better to wait for hours then act straight away and get everything wrong. If the man looked up he would see her. She pressed her body against the beam, one hand held a black blade so that she would blend into the shadows. A young man walked in, he had a handsome face and dressed extremely well for someone in the slums. If Moon hadn’t known anything about him, she would have wondered why he hadn’t been mugged. The quality was impressive; you could even see his hair was professionally cut.

The man sighed as he closed the door to the room. ‘No whore tonight? That's odd.’ The house was huge for the slums; it was one of largest in the area and could easily pass as a middle class town house. The wood was welded together and the walls had real plaster on it, the room was even warm without a fire.

"So are you going to kill me, Mistress Feud, or leave a message? For if you are to kill me I request an audience." The man looked up and smiled, his eyes were a little brighter then she first thought. Moon dropped silently from the ceiling landing lightly in front of him.

An audience was a moment to talk to her, all assassins within the city had vowed to give it to a person if they asked it. Of course it was rare if you were a good assassin, this was the second time and Moon was not happy that he had known about her. "What is it that you ask?"

The man smile reaching for Moon's face, Moon slapped it away with her blade that sliced the skin on his palm.  He gasped clutching his hand but seemed undeterred from her. "So you are a woman,"

"Yes I am, is there anything else you ask?" Moon placed the blades back in her belt, no cloack tonight, she had to press up against the ceiling, a cloak would have been probmatic.

"Why does the King want me dead, does he fear competation?"

Moon barely paused, it was something all workers for the King had practiced at least once.   "You are not competation, you're a danger to his people, Rebelling against the rebel will only drag you into the wrong situations. The rebel has succeeded by rebelling and not going onto their direct enermy's side you have gone too far."

The man nodded, he rubbed his eye with his hand and hissed in pain. He looked up at Moon in shock and admireation, "You poisoned me!" He accused falling against the wall, "You killed me!" His eyes watered slightly, "Is there anyway to stop this?"

Moon smiled mencingly, at him, her eyes ablaze with satisfaction, "There is, dear Sir but your choices in your past has caused this."

"Rachler caused this, he's going to destroy you and everything you stand for." He gasped as his skin reddened and blistered around his wound and around his eyes. "Don't I get to see your face?" He asked eyes wide.

Moon paused, something didn't feel right, why was he so egar in his dying moments to see her face and how would he know. Moon backed up against the wall waiting for the man to close his eyes. He was alive but only just. Moon glanced at the mirror, ‘He won’t see now,’ She ripped the mask off watching the man’s breathing slowly. She glanced at the mirror again, her eyes had bags.

She had done that a lot for the past two days, ever since she had seen Victor. She had been thinking about the part of her said that it was wrong, another said it was natural. Sighing Moon sheathed the dagger and climbed out of the window, her feet dropped from the ledge onto the dirt street, she causally walked down the alley.

A hand leapt out and grabbed her, shoving her against the wall. Moon hit her head sending her into a daze. A man leered down at her, taking hold of her hair as he pulled her up.  Moon gritted her teeth holding onto the man’s hand, she felt the hair tear from her scalp. Tears formed in her eyes.. The grip slacked as the man fell forward, Moon rolled out of his way. Luke smiled at her before hitting the man again. Moon threw a blade behind Luke, as a body fell on top of Luke, Luke shoved the body away looking up at Moon.
