(Cameron's POV)
"So how's Louisiana?"
"Great! The meeting was successful but there will be another one tomorrow, we almost sealed the deal though."
I am totally lying. I'm not even in Louisiana.
"That's great, Cam."
"So, you'll be going to Austin tomorrow?"
"Yeah."
"Sorry, I can't be there with you."
Right now, I'll be there tomorrow.
"Nah, it's okay. I know that meeting is important."
"Rachel... I'm sorry, really."
I need to do something important first.
"And I know."
"Well, get some sleep, you don't wanna be sleepy on the way to the airport."
Dream of me.
"Yeah, bye."
"Bye."
She hung up the phone and I decided to do what I was here for. I got out of my car and knocked on the door.
Within a few minutes, someone had opened it, someone I was meaning to talk to.
"Cameron, you're here. Come in."
I sat down on the couch, awaiting the person to sit down.
"Cameron, what brings you here?"
"Hey, Kirsten, it's just... I want to talk to you and Steven about something."
"Okay, let me call him."
She went upstairs, most likely to their room, to call her husband. After some time, they both came down the stairs and sat down on the couch.
"Cameron, nice to see you again. But, aren't you supposed to be Louisiana? Rachel told me that you had a business meeting there."
"I did, but the rest of the meeting can be handled by my co-workers."
"So, you left Louisiana and went back to Illinois just to talk to us? This must be important."
"It is, sir."
"Now, what is it that you want to talk about?"
I was literally sweating by this time. My hands were wet, sweat dripping down my face, but I had to be firm asking this sentence.
"Kirsten, Steven, may I ask for Rachel's hand in marriage?"
They looked at each other and then started whispering at each other.
After some time, Kirsten finally spoke up.
"I don't know, Cameron, Rachel's only 23, isn't that too early to get married?"
"But..."
"Oh I'm kidding, Cameron!"
"What?"
Kirsten and Steven started cracking up.
"Cameron, we both can see that both of you are very deeply in love, of course we'll allow you to marry her."
"Really? Thank you!!!"
"Your welcome."
I hugged them so tightly.
"Do you think she'll say yes?"
"Cameron, she will. If she doesn't, maybe it's because she thinks she's not ready, but she will eventually say yes. Relax."
"Thanks! Well, I gotta go now, I need to catch a flight to Austin."
