(Rachel's POV)

Hey, Cam. I am ready to go.

This is it. The important lunch with Cam's family.

I can do this. I am determined to make Chad like me. Even a little.

Rachel, Rachel, hellooooo!

Oh, what? Sorry, Cam.

What is wrong?

Nothing, just thinking about something.

Thinking? About what?

You don't want to know.

Yes, I do.

No, you don't.

Rachel...... tell me or else.

Or else what?

Or else we are going to the store and buying you onions.

Cam! You know I hate those.

Gonna fess up?

Fine, it is just.... I am nervous.

Nervous? Why?

I just want to make a good impression on Chad today. I need to show him that not all girls are the same as the girl he dated.

Ok ok. Don't worry about it. Plus, it will be a miracle if you can do it.

A miracle? Is it really that hard?

Yep. That bad relationship was about two years ago. My parents and I have been trying to snap him out of it but to no avail.

Well, maybe you just need a new face to tell him.

Maybe we do.

He kissed me on my cheek softly and sweetly.

Let us go, shall we?

We shall.

So, we started our way to his house. Once we arrived, we were greeted by a sweet aroma.

Oh, did Haily make steak and mashed potatoes?

I don't know, let's find out.

We entered the dining room, to find that my guess was right. On the dining table was a plate full of steaks and beside it was a bowl of mashed potatoes. There was also a big bowl of salad next to it, followed by some salmon and pasta.

Woah, Haily cooked all of this?

As if on cue, Haily entered the dining room with a big pot in her hands. I assumed it was filled with seafood chowder because of its smell.

Yes, I did Rachel.

Is that seafood chowder?

Why yes it is. How did you know?

"She absolutely loves seafood chowder, Mom." Cameron interrupted.

Oh, then I made the right decision to make it.

I became all giddy inside. When I was young, Mom used to make homemade seafood chowder all the time. I guess that is when I found my love for it.

Mom's seafood chowder was the best. No restaurant's could go up to par with her's. I never knew why. Mom said it was because she added a secret ingredient in hers, that's why it was so good.

Rachel, sit down. Cameron, call your father and siblings down. It will be the last time we eat lunch as an entire family.

Mom... alright. I will be back shortly.

Cam went upstairs to call them. I was sitting down when Haily pulled me into the living room and started crying.

Haily, is there something wrong?

No, nothing is wrong. It is just, I am gonna miss him. Please take care of him, okay.

Of course I will. And don't worry. My sister, brother-in-law and I visit my parents back in Illinois every year. We will make it a point to visit you guys too.

Thank you Rachel. You are such a sweet girl.

No problem Haily. I will do my best. Now, wipe your tears, you do not want Cam to see you crying, don't you?

I handed her my handkerchief.

Thank you. You are right. I cannot let Cameron see me like this.

She wiped her tears and proceeded back to the dining room. I followed her in but was pulled back into someone's arms.

So, what did you and Mom talk about?

Cam, you scared me.

I asked you a question.

And I shall give you an answer.

Which is?

Girl stuff.

Rachel, Mom was crying.

Look, she just told me to take care of you in the future. She really cares for you.

I know, I don't want to leave her, but I also don't want to leave you.

Cam... I can... I can wait you know.

Wait? For what?

For your family to accept that you are living with me.

What are you talking about?

I mean, Chad doesn't like me. Your mom clearly still cannot let you go. I don't know about your dad, Chase, or Hannah, but what if they feel the same way as them? What if they still cannot let you go? What if they are just putting on a happy face in front of us but deep down they wish that I never came into your life? What if...

I did not get to finish my sentence, Cam had stopped me. By claiming my lips, that is.

The kiss was deep and was full of emotions. It lasted for about half a minute before he tore away.

Rachel, calm down. I cannot speak for Chad, but for the rest of them, I know one thing. They like you. They truly do. They just have a hard time letting me go because I am the youngest. They may baby me but they have to accept the fact that I am a grown-up already. That I can make my own choices. And if my choice is to live with you, then they have to accept that whether they like it or not.

Cam....

Relax, I will be there with you. If they don't like you then that is their problem, right? What's important is that I like you.

Cam... you're right! I can do this.

Ready to go in there?

Yeah.

******

Okay, so I actually finished writing this on April 30. But, couldn't upload it until now because the internet was so slow.

I really want to write the chapter in which tells about their first night together.... but I decided to put some action first.

So... expect Chad to make a grand appearance in the next chapter or so.

Hope you guys will like it.
