(Rachel's POV)
It has been 3 years since I last saw Cameron. Cameron, my childhood friend and crush. But alas, I had to leave him. It all started a little over 3 years ago......
I was leaving school when Mrs. Johnson, the school secretary, handed me a letter. I was excited when I saw these words on the front of the envelope:
NEW YORK JOURNALISM ACADEMY
I tore it open and read the letter.
Dear Rachel Levin,
Congratulations! You have been accepted into the New York Journalism Academy. We loved your submission and would love to have you here. And along with that, we are also giving you the once in a lifetime opportunity to attend the advanced classes this coming May. This class will of course advance your skills in writing, and give you more challenging topics to write on. If you were to not join this class, you are to enter in September.
I was so happy! After all my hard work, I could finally enter my dream college. I loved writing as a passion and a hobby. I couldn't wait to tell my family and friends. Then one thought struck me:
"I will not see Cameron for 4 years."
I cringed at the thought of it. I knew that I would never be happy with that. So, I decided that I would go see him and tell him......
Cameron, like many other boys, had a passion for basketball and tried out for the team. And although some boys tried out for the team and failed, he got in and was named captain in his second year.
I made my way up to the third floor where the team was training. I saw Cameron and told him to come talk to me.
"Hey! Whatcha doin' here?"
"Look, Cameron. I need to tell you something."
"What is it?"
"I am leaving for New York in a few months for an advanced journalism program. I may be back for like a week or so before I need to go back to New York for the actual classes."
"Oh! Okay."I saw him staring at the envelope in my hand. He then continued......
"So, who else did you tell about this, seeing that you only got the letter today?"
"No one. You are the first person to know."
"What! You didn't even tell Cassie, your best friend?"
"Nope, she already went home. Shouldn't you be happy, we always fight, and in about a month, I will be gone."
"I know but still that is so sudden."
"Yeah I know."After the conversation, I started to go back home. And a month later, I found myself in the airport waiting for my flight to New York.
The flight wasn't bad, it was just boring. I flew all by myself so I had no one to talk to. After a few hours of complete boredom, I finally landed. I fetched a taxi then proceeded to go to the New York Journalism Academy. I will be living in one of their dorms for the advanced classes.
Once I arrived, I was greeted by a woman who had a nameplate that read: Felicia Waters. She said, "Oh! You must be Rachel Levin. Hi, nice to meet you. My name is Felicia Waters, or Ms. Waters and I am the school secretary. Here, let me give you a tour of the school and the dorms."
Ms. Waters showed me the classrooms, the cafeteria, the bathrooms and all the other facilities in the school. She then ushered me outside and we started walking about 2 blocks to the dorm. The dorm's exterior was painted a nice beige sort of peach color. The interior, as like the exterior was beautiful. Ms. Waters handed me a key that had the number 305 on it.
"This is the key to your stay here. Hope you like it."
"Oh, I know I will."We proceeded to go up the stairs when I saw a man putting up a flyer on the wall. It read:
