(Cameron's POV)
It has been almost 3 years since I last saw Rachel. Rachel, my childhood friend and my crush. But now, I may have the chance to see her again. It all started 12 months ago......
I was working at my part time job at a bank when I got this text message from my mom:
Cameron dear, I know that you are working right now but can you take an early leave? Your father and I want to tell you something important. Please come home ASAP.
I did not know what to expect from this news. Dad works in an architectural company and Mom is just a housewife. My siblings are all working already. I could not think of anything, any news that would have been so important. But, if Mom said that it was important then it meant that I really had to go home ASAP. I sent her this text message after talking with my boss:
Mom, I just talked to Mr. Gillins. He said that I could go home early on the account that it was a family matter. I'll be home in about 10 minutes.
Mom just replied: OK.
I packed up my things and started walking home.
My home was a few blocks away from the bank so walking home wasn't such a tedious task.
After about 8-9 minutes, I was finally home. I opened the front door, put my things in my room and proceeded to the living room.
There I saw my entire family, my parents, my 2 older twin brothers and my older sister. They were all seated quietly in the living room when my mother saw me.
"Cameron, you're here. Come and sit down."
I did as my mother told me to and sat down between Chad and Chase, my older twin brothers. Hannah, my sister, sat beside Chase while my parents sat in front of us.
Between us siblings and our parents was a table, nothing else. I asked my siblings what was going on but they had no clue. Eventually, Dad spoke up.
"Kids, as you all know, we have some news to tell you. And that news is, that we are moving from Illinois to New York in about a year or so."
My siblings and I were shocked when we heard the news. We were immediately asking questions like:
"What, why are we moving?"
"How long will we be staying there or are we staying there PERMANENTLY?"
"But Dad, that means that I will have to leave my friends."
"Dad, how about my job, I can't just tell my boss that in a year or two we'll be moving out when I signed a 5 year contract."
After hearing all these questions and complaints, Dad finally said,
"Look, the company gave me a project in New York. The initial idea was for me to leave you guys here and for me to go to New York for about 5 to 6 years but I couldn't accept that. So I asked my boss if I could take you guys with me and he was okay with it. So in about a year or so, we are moving to New York."
Hearing this explanation calmed me and my siblings down.
And eventually, we were on board the plan.
We started making arrangements with our bosses, and telling our friends.
And yet even after all that, I was still a little nervous about the move. Not the actual moving, but to where we were moving.
New York is a great place to move to, with all the opportunities and life in there. But to me, moving to New York only meant one thing.
I MIGHT SEE RACHEL AGAIN!
