Steve's POV
"Are you sure I have to use the gun?" Bruce complained.

"Unless you want to turn into the Hulk." Clint offered.

Bruce grumpily snatched the gun out of Clint's hand and stuffed it in his buckle.

We had dropped Thor off and were just leaving the Quinjet on the opposite side. I put my hand to my com. "Thor, do you copy?"

I hear a crackling sound in my ear. "Yes." Thor's voice responded.

I looked up to Amanda. "Did you hear that?"

Amanda sat back in her chair. "Loud and clear. Keep me posted, and don't die."

"Roger that." I respond.

Still Steve's POV
We were almost to the ship when we saw two people coming out to meet us. Not five. "How are we supposed to draw them all out?" Bruce asked, shivering slightly in the cold Alaskan air.

"Apparently they don't see us as a big threat." Tony stated. Then he smirked. "I can change that." He raised his arm and shot a pulse of energy from his suit, which hit the already damaged part of the ship and caused a huge piece to fall off.

"What do you think your doing?" I scold, pushing Tony backward. "You might hit the tesseract or Thor!"

He pointed towards the ship. "But it worked." He argued defensively.

I turned my head to see that all five of them were running at us, raising their weapons high in the air. "They don't look happy." Natasha said.

"No they do not..." I say. A few shots were fired from their weapons but I was quick to raise my shield and block them. When the thieves made it close enough we got ready to attack, but someone in a brown jacket wearing a metal mask stopped us.

"Just... Hold on a second." He muttered breathlessly. "I just ran... All the way over here. So just." He took his helmet off to reveal a human face with brown hair and put his hands on his knees. "I need to run more." The rest of his team looked just as confused as we were, so we didn't attack, yet. But I stayed on my toes, ready for their next move.

The rest of the brown haired man's team did not looks as human as he did. There was one woman, who was completely green with dark hair and carried two daggers. There was a man who was covered in red markings, was tall, and looked very heavily built and strong. 'I'm taking that guy.' Then I'm assuming the rest of the team are men, but at this point I'm not very sure. I saw the raccoon that was on the news, but he was standing next to a tree with a face. 'I should be way more surprised than I am but honestly this isn't the weirdest thing I've seen.' I took advantage of our little truce and started a conversation. Well, more like an interrogation. "Who are you? What do you want with the cube?" I kept my voice steady and commanding.

The man who was panting stood up straighter and spread his arms out. "We're Guardians of the freakin Galaxy." The rest of his team moaned at the mention of this name, muttering things under their breath.

Tony stepped forward. "Oh yeah? Well we are the Avengers, Earth's Mightiest Heroes. So you can back off and hand over the tesseract."

"That supposed to mean anything?" The raccoon spat.

"If you want to live." Tony threatened.

Clint spoke up. "Guardians of the Galaxy?" He smirked. "What kind of 'guardians' steal a dangerous weapon that was in good hands?"

"It's not stealing. I clearly wanted it more. If they wanted it as bad as me they would have protected it better." The raccoon snarled.

"I am Groot." The tree confirmed.
