Epilogue – Spring,Again.

Five years later, Seoul felt different.
The city had grown taller, louder, brighter — yet for Seokjin, time moved in smaller rhythms.
Morning coffee.  The hum of the subway.  The river, always the river.

He had become a doctor now — not the same carefree boy who used to skip classes for long walks by the water. His days were full of numbers and names, heartbeats and silences. But every time he washed his hands between patients, he caught a glimpse of her — the way she once cupped her palms under the tap, laughing at how cold the water was.

Some memories never faded; they only softened around the edges.

One spring morning, after his shift ended, Seokjin took the familiar path down to the riverbank. The same bench was still there — a little older, paint peeling, but standing. He sat down and unwrapped a small paper bag.

Mandarins.
Still slightly sour.

He peeled one slowly, feeling the scent rise into the air.
For a moment, the world felt the same.

A group of students passed by — uniforms fluttering, laughter chasing the wind. One of them stopped to tie her shoelace, glancing up to smile at him. Something about the tilt of her head, the brightness in her eyes — for a heartbeat, he saw her.

Y/n.

Not in body, not in memory — but in everything around him. In the laughter. The water. The air.

He whispered softly, “You were right. The river never stops.”

Reaching into his bag, he took out a small notebook.
It was worn at the edges — the same one she had written in.
He opened it to the last page and added a line beneath her final words:

> And when the heart remembers, it means love never left.

Then he closed the book, holding it to his chest for a long time.

The sun broke through the clouds, scattering light over the water.
He smiled — quietly, fully — and let the last piece of mandarin fall into the river.

The current carried it away, just as it always had.

And Seokjin, for the first time in years, felt peace.
