Solar groaned, walking slowly with the grace of a man three times his age. His back cracked audibly.

"Ugh... I am too young to feel this old" he muttered, wincing as he pushed himself up.

"If this is what old age feels like, just bury me now" He brushed off the alien dust clinging to his clothes and looked around.

The forest glowed faintly, leaves shimmering with soft light, strange vines pulsing like veins.

No sign of his brothers, no familiar energy signatures. Just him, the buzzing of alien bugs, and the sound of something large breathing very close.

"...Okay" he whispered, eyes narrowing.

"If that's Blaze's snoring, I am buying him a muzzle"

He turned slowly.

Two glowing eyes stared back from the shadows, Wide, hungry and way too close for comfort.

Solar froze.

"Oh. Not Blaze"

The creature stepped forward, six legs, a row of jagged teeth, and a body that shimmered like molten glass. It tilted its head, sniffing the air.

"Oh great, I am lunch"

The beast lunged.

Solar yelped, light bursting from his palms as he teleported several meters away, landing in a painful crouch. His back immediately protested.

"OW! fantastic!, even my bones are mad at me now!"

The beast turned, screeching, wings flaring open, Solar gritted his teeth, raising his hands.

"Fine! You want to fight? Let's fight!"

He fired a beam of concentrated light, but the beast easily avoid it. The creature roared and charged at him, sending chunks of glowing dirt flying.

Solar darted aside, clutching his back as he ran.

"I hate this planet!"

He jumped, teleporting again midair, barely dodging a claw swipe. He landed on a rock, slipped, caught himself, and hissed.

"Ow, ow ow ow! My spine!"

He stumbled, clutching his back as the creature slammed into the ground where he had just been.

"Okay, note to self" he gasped, limping backward.

"Teleporting with a back injury? Not recommended"

The creature shrieked loudly, lunging through the trees as Solar ducked, rolled, and fired a beam of light straight into its face.

"HA! Bet you didn't see that coming!"

The blast hit dead on, and the beast blinked, unimpressed.

Solar's face fell.

"Oh come on!"

It charged again, tearing through glowing roots. Solar ran, every step sending pain up his spine.

Another roar echoed behind him.

He spun around and shot a blinding flash of light, enough to stun the beast for a few seconds before Solar teleport once more, away from the beast.

He stumbled backward, gasp for some air and look around him.

"Okay, distance achieved, sanity? Debatable, spine? Questionable"

He leaned against a tree, squinting at his communicator.

Static. Of course.

He sighed, dropping his head.
