CHAPTER 12

ASHA'S P.O.V
I screamed. The headmaster had just sat down and told us to enjoy the feast. I glanced at the previously empty plates to see them filled with chicken and pie and quiche... and so much other food. My eyes seemed to hurt looking at it all. Don't judge. It was a lot of food.

"Are you gonna eat? Or do you digest by looking at the food?" Lena teased, smirking at me.

"I'm sorry! But when you grow up buying your food from the supermarket and cooking it, food appearing out of thin air does cause a shock" I shot back.
She looked at me for a second, probably taken aback, but then we both burst out laughing. I started loading as much as I could onto my plate. Normally I don't eat much, cause my family have never been big diners, but trust me, when you find more food then you see in a year piling up on the tables suddenly, you feel like you have to eat! The food here, was delicious, like it had been made with magic. Then I remembered it probably was. God, this was gonna take some getting use to!

We were feasting ourselves with every little thing we could find. Unfortunately, neither Lena or Rose- or anyone else!- decided to tell me that there was pudding as well. I had been sitting and talking, watching Rose slowly eat a few handfuls of chips, when the food disappeared, and the pudding appeared. I felt like a child again, as I realised my dessert stomach was still completely empty. I laughed, as Lena's eyes lit up, and she cut a slice of sticky toffee pudding. I felt my tummy rumble at the smell of the heavenly thing, but before I could say anything, Lena had cut another two slices- one she had put on Rose's plate, and the other...
"No, Lena, it's fine... you don't have to get me stuff!"
"Shut up, you want it, do you want it? Course you want it! So take it, I need to feed my friends up."

Her friends? I jumped, brought back to earth as one of the joker boys from the train came.
"Ugh! What do you want James?!" Lena said irritated.
"Nah, I just wanted to get some of this chocolate pudding, seeing as you guys are hogging it!"
"Oi! I don't even like chocolate pudding!" Lena cried indignantly. James smirked.
"Then why are you hogging it?"
"Cause you needed exercise, even if it was only walking over here. Now go away!" Lena had demolished her plate of sticky toffee pudding and was on her second slice.
"Shut up Lena!" He took the chocolate pudding, before turning back. "Oh, and you might want to slow down on the food-" he advised as Lena stretched her hand towards a strawberry tart,
"- trust me you'll regret it tomorrow!" With that, he left.

Lena waited till he'd gone and went on and ate the tart. "'Onestly! 'ho 'ose 'e 'fink 'e is?" She waffled her mouth full of food.
"Sorry what!?!" I asked smirking slightly.
Lena frowned at my teasing expression and folded her arms with a mock insulted look on her face.
"Oh no don't go all huffy on me!" I said hurriedly.
She smiled and I smiled back (yes, I know it's cheesy!) relieved that I hadn't scared away the first person to seem to take a liking to me.
"Chill, I'm not!" And then- "Oh my days, this food is amazing, my mam never said that, I have never eaten this much before, is it like this all the time?!" Lena scooped some pineapple jelly onto her plate, while Rose drowned her hazelnut ice cream in toffee sauce. I casually took... a few... different desserts, as Rose answered.

"Nope, not always. Only the feasts- hey, you know my mum and dad missed their first Hallowe'en feast. They told me to make sure I don't."
"Why would they miss this?" Lena had finally stopped, but seemed to be in seventh heaven.
"They didn't do it on purpose. My dad saved my mum from a troll, so... that's how they became friends!"
"That is so cute!" Lena squealed. "The start of a perfect relationship... aw, that's cute."
"How come?" I asked Rose.
"Lena, don't let me hear you talking about my parents like that ever again, it makes me feel ill. They're my parents! And yeah, a troll got in because there was an evil professor. And my mum had gone to the bathroom because she was upset because my dad had been mean about her because she showed him up by getting a spell right."
"Okay..." Lena said. "But why did they end up fighting it? And how did the teachers not notice that an evil troll was in? Makes ya think they wouldn't notice now..."
I shuddered. Trolls really don't seem like my type of thing.
"Shut it Lena, and they won't come in Asha." Rose said kindly. "Anyway, so the troll went into the bathroom, and my dad locked it in the bathroom, before realising that my mum was in there, and ran back to rescue her. He then used the spell they'd learnt in class to knock the troll out with his own club." Rose finished proudly.
"Wow! He saved her by himself?!" I asked. Rose shifted uncomfortably. "So that means no?"
"No... not really..."
"What's Rose saying?" Dominique turned round, and grinned. "Ha, she always exaggerates with that story, don't you Rosie? Our Uncle was there too actually, and he did a lot. They wouldn't have gone back for her if not for him, for example. And he ran at the troll."
"Dominique!" Rose flushed scarlet. "It's the story of when my parents first became friends! Not Uncle Harry!"
There was an awkward silence, and Dominique turned back to her friends. Ah. We sat in silence for a bit, eating, before I eventually tried to start a conversation.
