School actually seems more boring than usual, if that's even possible. Today after class I guess I'll be having some cookies. Hopefully they're not poisoned. Why would I even think about that? I haven't told Molly because I know she would go crazy. That would be bad.

The bell rings and I unconsciously pack up my stuff and then walk out of class.

"Eyyy wait up!" Molly calls out through the hallway. I stop and turn to look at her.

"What's up?" I ask.

"Are you ditching me?" She asks me.

"Oh no, didn't I tell you I had something to do after class?" I'm pretty sure I did. Well, maybe I didn't. I've been a little out of it thinking about many unnecessary scenarios.

"Nope"

"Well I have an errand to run, so I'll see you." I tell her with an apologetic smile and walk off. If I talk with her any longer I'm positive it'll end up like interrogation. I'm not very good at those.

I look up to see that the sky is completely gray. It hasn't really rained recently, but our weather is pretty gloomy most of the time. My school isn't too far from my house so I reach the front of Melanie's house in less than 10 minutes.

I look up and see the the huge two-door entrance. Her house seems so much bigger up close. It's a mansion, pretty much. It's like those old houses you see in movies. I think through this for a minute, then knock. I wait.

The door opens and Melanie greets me with a smile. Her hair is still short, half black and half teal. She's wearing a lilac dress, doll-style. Her shoes are white with very thick heels, and white ruffle socks.

"Hey. You came!"

"Yep."

"Well, come in." She gestures, I walk in and she closes the door behind us. I look around. It's pretty much what I expected. Vintage furniture. Old family pictures, I think. And even a grandfather clock. It's pretty amazing.

"It's really nice. Your house." I tell her. We sit down on the couches in the living room area. There is a wooden coffee table with a tray of chocolate chip cookies, and two glasses of milk. It kind of reminds me of my childhood.

"Thanks." She says with a smile.

"Those look yummy." I say pointing at the cookies.

"Take some." She gestures. I grab one and take the glass of milk with my other hand, she does too.

"So.." I say, trying to bring up a conversation."Is your hair real? Or do you wear wigs? I'm curious."

"This is real" she says with a small laugh, "but I actually do own lots of wigs."

"That's cool, I've always wanted to do something interesting with my hair but I can't think of what to do," I tell her.

"Yeah I guess my hair's pretty unique," she laughs.

"Yep lots of people find it weird," I point out.

"You think I don't know? Hah," the conversation flows out pretty naturally. While eating and talking, I don't feel the very least nervous. She's really interesting and nice. She would make a great friend.

"I collect vintage toys," she says later on when we're talking about our hobbies.

"Oh that's really cool, can I see them?" I ask. Suddenly I hear sirens wailing, but don't think too much of it. A minute later I get a call from Molly.

"Sorry I have to get this," I tell Melanie.

"It's fine."

"Yeah, what's up?" I ask Molly.

"Come over here immediately," Molly says hurriedly.

"Um what's up?"

"One word. Cookies." She says.

"I have to go I'm so sorry. It was amazing talking to you. I'll come by some other time." I quickly tell Melanie.

"Oh okay. Thanks for dropping by." She gives me a wave, and I hurry up.
