The group has been travelling for quite some time. The silence between them wasn't suffocating, in fact, Hecate thought it was comforting. She's gotten used to the quiet after being alone for so long.
Yaz sits in the middle, her back pressed against Hecate's chest as her head leans on her girlfriend's shoulder. Hecate has her arms around Yasmina's waist, keeping her close.
She frowns as Yaz's face scrunches up while she sleeps, she figures it must be a nightmare. Hecate pulls Yasmina back down when the girl jerks forward with a soft gasp, her eyes snapping open. Hecate sees Mae look back worriedly but she looks forward again once Hecate shakes her head.
"Yaz," Hecate whispers, "Are you okay?"
Yaz turns her head to glance up at her, "Yeah, just.." she sighs, "it was just another nightmare."
"Another? Yasmina, when did you start having them?" Hecate replies. Her eyebrows furrow, internally cursing herself for not noticing sooner that something was wrong.
Yaz looks briefly at the others with them before shaking her head, "Id rather talk when we're alone," she says before muttering, "if that ever happens again."
Hecate laughs, a smile making its way into her face, the first one Yaz has seen in days, "That's understandable. Hopefully we'll arriv—"
Her words are interrupted by a gasp from Mae and a low groan coming from in front of them. The two of them peek out from behind the seat and immediately, Hecate groans in annoyance.
"Why the actual fuck is Pierce here?" She scoffs. Mae slows the snow vehicle to a stop before hopping down. The others get out as well, slowly approaching the dinosaur.
Hecate pulls Yaz back when she tries to stand, "We're not obligated to help, Yaz." She says softly, "You're tired, extremely tired, even if you won't admit it. Why don't you stay here while I go figure this out?"
"No, I'm fine," yaz retorts before her face drops, voice being quieter, "Okay, no, I'm not fine, but I can help with whatever's happening."
Hecate sighs, "Alright," she says, brushing a few strands of hair out of Yasmina's face. Yaz pushes the door open and they drop down from the snow glider.
"He's gone I to hyperthermic shock," Mae says as they walk up, her voice is taught with worry for the herbivore, "I have to move him out of here somehow or he'll die."
"What about the supply plane?" Yaz points out, "It's gonna be here in under an hour."
Mae sighs and looks around for a moment as if thinking, "You kids take the gliders and keep going, ill figure out a way to get Pierce back into the desert biome."
Of course this is when Darius just has to speak up, "You can't move a 4,000 pound dinosaur by yourself!!" He exclaims. Hecate immediately rolls her eyes.
"How about some of us go ahead and stall the plane and the others stay back and help?" Brooklyn suggests but Darius shakes his head.
"The only way we're gonna move a dinosaur that big is with both gliders," he says, "if we're gonna save him, we all have to help. And we will, right?" He continues, looking around at everyone.
The others say their own words of agreement, but Hecate stays quiet. She huffs as she hear Yaz grumble out a few words of agreement though it's obvious the only thing the girl wants to do is go home.
"I couldn't care less about the dinosaur, but I'm outnumbered so why bother resisting," hecate says making a few of them frown, "Lets get this shit show over with before we miss the plane."
