26: Mae's Confrontation

As soon as Sammy had explained who Kash is, she took off outside, the other two had no choice but to chase after. Well, Hecate wanted to stay but one look from Yaz made her follow with a sigh.

"Sammy!" Yaz calls after her, "Sammy, slow down!"

"Mae!" Sammy exclaims when she sees Darius, she stops and looks around for her, "Mae? Darius, where is Mae?"

"Mae? She went to see her boss in the jungle biome, some guy named ka—" Darius replies.

"Kash," Sammy interrupts.

"Yeah, how'd you know?" He asks. He glances at Hecate when he notices she's there. He looks away after a moment, hand pressed to his bruised cheek. Hecate rolls her eyes. Wuss.

"I'm gonna go confront him," sammy says.

This time it's Hecate who speaks, "No, that's reckless," she says, "we don't know how he'll react. He could try to kill you."

"Youd love that, wouldn't you?" Darius scoffs

"Oh I'm sorry, I wasn't aware your ears actually work, y'know, since you never listen to your friends," she snarks, "keep your mouth shut, Darius, I don't want to hear it."

"As I was saying," Hecate continues, "He might have some kind of weapon, actually, I know he has a weapon. You don't venture into a place with dinosaurs without. Unless you're stupid."

"Anyway, Sammy, one of us should go with you, and you shouldn't just confront him, let Mae handle that," Yasmina says.

Hecate nods, "What she said." She glances back at her with a grin, a real one, "You're so smart."

Yaz laughs, "I know."

"You don't..you don't get it," Sammy says, huffing in anger, "Kash is the one who blackmailed my family," the others suck in a breath at her words.

"I get that, Sammy, but it's too dangerous," Brooklyn says.

"I get you want revenge, or at least some answers, but you could get really hurt," beb says.

"how do you all not get this? I thought you were my friends," Sammy scoffs, walking away from them.

Hecate raises an eyebrow at her. She leans towards Yaz, "I fear your friends may be stupid."

"Our friends," yaz corrects.

"Mm, yours," she repeats, "They aren't my friends."

Yasmina just sighs. It's useless arguing. With everything hecate has been through, being alone all that time, it's not unexpected for her to think this. Its a miracle that Hecate still loves Yaz, at least, thats what Yasmina thinks.

After some convincing from Yaz, Hecate finally followed the others to wherever Mae is meeting this Kash to talk. They hide behind the underbrush, watching at Mae and Kash speak.

"This research of yours, Mae," Kash raises his hands to his head, mimicing an explosion, "Wow, you've opened my eyes to possibilities that I never imagine. And I imagine a lot."

"I won't let you use my research for whatever sick, twisted plan you got," mae replies, glaring at the man.

Brooklyn pulls Sammy back before she can step forward. She falls with a grunt, glaring up at her, "What are you doing?"

"We're your family, Sammy, and we're gonna protect you," Brooklyn whispers.

"You heard me. Stop all of this now or I'll go over your head," Mae continues, threatening him. Hecate glances over at the velociraptors, there are three. Occasionally one will run into the invisible fence creates by the drones preventing them from getting too close. They stalk around, thinking. It makes Hecate frown.

"I really wish you didn't make this so adversarial. A couple geniuses like us?" Kash says. The BRADs growl and begin to approach Mae.n

"Kash ..what are you.." she trails off, her eyes widing.

"Thank you for your contributions to Mantah Corp, Dr. Turner, but the company has decided to go in a different direction. Your services are no longer..." He stops as Mae turns and bolts out of there, running into the jungle part of the biome. Kash sighs, looking at the robots, then to the velociraptors, "Well, go get her!"

The dinosaurs immediately run off. Hecate stands, "C'mon," she whispers, grabbing Yaz's hand and pulling her up to stand. She doesn't look back as she begins running in the direction of the velociraptors. She may not like many people, but Mae has only tried to help them.

Hecate watches behind a tree as two BRADs approach Mae, corning her, "No, you can't do this, please!" She exclaims. Hecate grabs a large rock and run forward, slamming it into the robots head. The other immediately turns to her, opening it mouth to shoot out a ball of electricity. Hecate ducks, pulling Mae by the arm.

"C'mon! We need to get to the airlock," she says. Hecate looks to Yaz who nods, beginning to run with them. Hecate pushes Mae behind a tree, pulling yaz with them as she peeks out.

The BRAD runs past, it's green light scanning over everything, "I don't think it saw us." Hecate whispers, "I'll take it out. Yaz, go get the others and get to the airlock." Yaz starts to shake her head but sighs when she Hecate gives her a look.

"Fine. C'mon, Mae," she says, going back for the others.

Hecate stalks forward, watching her steps to make sure she doesn't make much noise. Once the BRAD is turned away from her, she rushes forward. Hecate grabs the top of the BRAD's head, one foot on its back, holding it down as she pulls. It give way after a moment and she falls back with with a grunt. The wires spark as she tosses the part away.

She lets out a sigh, looking around, "This was too easy," she mutters. As expected, something else just has to happen to her. Hecate looks behind her as she hears a snarl, jerking away with wide eyes as one of the velociraptors pounces in the spot she was just at.

Hecate grabs a rock and slams it into the dinosaurs head, hitting one of its eyes. It whines and claws at its head, giving Hecate enough time to put some distance between them. Another low growl makes her freeze. Great, not one, but two of the velociraptors found her. Well, better her than Yaz.

Hecate backs up, she's close to the airlock and could make it if she runs but she'd be leaving everyone else if she did that, "shit," she mutters. She could also go to the airlock and lead the velociraptors inside, keeping at least two from the others. At least there she can take care of them without worrying for Yaz.

Hecate jolts back, turning and running. She has to dodge the dinosaurs teeth a few times before she slides into the airlock, standing close to keep it open just long enough for the velociraptors to get inside. Okay, maybe she hadn't thought this through completely.

Fuck, if only she had her knives. Or like a slightly sharp rock. Now, urges the question, can she kill them while avoiding their claws and teeth? Hecate watches as the dinosaurs circle her. If this was Isla Nublar, she could just tell them to stop. If only she hadn't left.

She's forced out of her thoughts as both velociraptors begin running towards her from each side. She ducks down as the pounce, letting them slam into each other. Hecate exhales, thankful for these dinosaurs stupidness. It might've been over for her if they rushed from the same side.

Hecate stands, taking the opportunity to grab one of the velociraptors head and jaw, pressing her foot on its side from behind as she twists, a snap echoing through the empty space. She drops it's head, a small river of blood trailing out it's mouth.

She leans up, shaking herself out some and cracking her knuckles as she watches the other velociraptor finally recover it's senses, "C'mon, bitch."
