The universe always found a way to show me my place, show me my destiny.

History was repeating itself. I got too ahead of myself, I thought that things were finally looking up for me. That my life could be. . . normal, somehow.

History was repeating itself and I was brought right back to the worst night of my life but now instead of my mother laying before me in a pool of blood, it was my father.

We missed out on so much of each other's lives, this was our chance to make up for lost time. Our shot at a new beginning.

This was supposed to be our way of showing Robert Vasilakis that despite everything, he did not break us. That he did not win.

I dropped to my knees beside his body, tears blurring my vision as they cascaded down my cheeks like waterfalls. My hands shook as they hovered over his chest, afraid to make contact because it would all feel far too real. It would confirm that this wasn't some type of twisted nightmare.

My eye shot up to the woman still standing there, gun still in hand. Her lips were slightly parted as she took in the scene ahead of her, "What have you done!" Venom spewed from every word I said. My eyes searched the face of the woman I once considered a second mother, I tried to find any semblance of the woman who raised me. But all I saw was Jenna Dixon for what she truly was; a cold blooded monster.

My scream seemed to have snapped her out of whatever trance she was in and she began to make a move for the front door. A groan left my father's lips bringing my attention back to him, his eyes fluttered open.

"Dad," I cupped his face tilting his head to look at me, he was my priority which gave her safe passage to the front door.  "I'm here, I'm right here wth you Dad I-"

A yelp caught my attention, I looked over just in time to catch Jenna crash into Aiden's chest when she opened the door. She stumbled back and quickly raised her gun aiming it at him.

But Aiden was quicker than her, he moved swiftly, twisting the gun out of her hand. She charged at him, tried to push past him  and make her exit. He spun her around with ease, forcing her hands behind her back, restraning her with one hand while the other held onto the gun. "Let go of me!" She thrashed in his strong hold.

That's when he finally had the chance to take in the sight ahead of him; my father's covered in blood  and me knelt beside him. His eyes went wide in surprise and I could see his gears turning, I knew that he was thinking about letting her go and coming to our aid.

But I shook my head, she wasn't gonna get away with this. Not this time. "No, you can't let her go," I reassured him. He nodded, keeping a steady grip on her hands as he tucked the gun into the waistband of his pants and got his phone out of his pocket.

"Bir-" A strained whisper brought right back to him, my father, who looked up at me with glosy tear-filled eyes. And just like that, I blocked out everything else that was going on around us. My ears blocked out Jenna's screams as she demanded to be let go because she 'raised me', I blocked out Aiden's voice as he spoke with the 911 operator, I blocked it all out. In that moment it was just him and I. "I a-m  so sor-ry Birdie,"

I shook my head frantically, seeing double due to my tears that wouldn't stop coming, "Shhh don't strain yourself. Everything is gonna be okay, I promise you."

Blinking the tears away, I watched him shake his head as well as though he didn't believe that things were gonna be okay. "I- failed y-you,"

"You did not, you didn't know, we didn't know. But that's okay," I forced a smile through the tears, "because the universe brought us back together a-and we're gonna make up for all those years, you'll see,"
