There was something strange in the air that morning. A familiar scent filled my head: soft sheets, a hint of salt in the air.

When I opened my eyes and looked around, I realized I wasn't in my usual bed, or any bed I'd been in before. I turned toward the window overlooking the far side of the lake. Draco lay asleep on his sofa, his platinum hair falling over his eyes.

I couldn't believe he'd let me sleep in his bed. It was very kind... but I felt guilty. That was his space. I'd have to make it up to him with a gift.

I got up quietly; the cold stone froze my feet instantly. I tiptoed to the chair where my uniform lay folded, grabbed my things, and slipped out through the painting that concealed his room.

It was my first time in the Slytherin common room, so I didn't know where to go. I took a deep breath and changed quickly in his office, praying that Draco wouldn't wake up and find me in ripped tights, a wrinkled shirt, and with a face that said, "I'm committing a school crime."

With careful steps, I followed the corridors. The Slytherin common room was beautiful: a view of the lake, mermaids carved in stone, sea creatures dancing among the green shadows.

Luckily, no one was there... although that could mean two things: it was very early, or everyone was in class. Without wanting to find out which, I left via the stairs.

Several paintings watched me along the way, some judging, others... giving me mischievous looks. Perfect. I'm sure there were already rumors.

In the Great Hall, I found an empty seat. No one looked at me, no one suspected anything. At least today, no one would bother me. I was eating breakfast in silence when some familiar curls sat down next to me.

"Y/N, it's so good to see you. How's your morning going?" Andrea offered me a roll.

We chatted for a bit. We walked together to our first class and then went our separate ways; our schedules kept changing until the meeting in the tower for the champion selection.

Later, with some free time, I walked toward the library. A flash in my peripheral vision caught my eye: it looked like a small, floating firework. I followed it through the corridors; it sped up.I had to run after it.

I was about to catch up when a body fell in front of me. We both fell."Umph!""What kind of way is that to greet your professor, Y/N?" George, below me, rubbed his head."George! I should have known only you would try to get my attention like that." He helped me to my feet.

"I'm sorry I didn't come for you last night," he said, placing his hand on my forehead like a mother hen checking for a fever, "but I'm glad to see you're feeling better.""I would never be mad at you guys. I scared you, and I'm sorry."

"Everything's fine, Y/N. Now tell me... are you going to participate in the tournament?""Me? HA! No way. I've had a terrible feeling ever since the announcement."George sighed dramatically.

"Correct answer. I would have put a spell on you if you said yes. Fred and I once tried to sneak into the Tournament with an aging potion... we ended up looking like eighty-year-olds."I laughed at the thought."Why did you want to participate?""We had something to prove. Or so we thought. The headmaster's spell humiliated us faster than you can say 'all'."
