So Alone

Chapter 11: So Alone

I couldn’t believe I was going to be completely alone for a whole month. It was so unfair! I barely slept when I had Seung Hyun with me, with him gone, I’d be exhausted and sad.

“Why do you have to leave again, oppa?” I asked him, for the thousandth time.

He sighed, frustrated, stating, “Because of work! We’re doing promotions in Japan, it’s not that long, love. I’ll be back soon, remember that. I’ll call you every day that I can.” I hated seeing him packed to go to Tokyo, but I knew it couldn’t be helped. He’d had to do this a few other times, when we were dating. I hugged him, and gave him a kiss on the cheek.

“I’ll miss you more with every breath I take,” I mumbled, trying to be a romantic. He took my face in his hands, and kissed me.

He whispered in my ear, “I’ll miss you, too. I love you.” He picked up his bags, and left through the door. I stood there, motionless for a few minutes.

“I love you,” I told the empty house. I thought about curling up in a ball, and crying non-stop for that whole month, but I thought I should at least take my mind off of missing him. He left me the car keys so I wouldn’t walk anywhere alone. I called my friend, Lee Eun Mi. That poor girl was just getting over a horrible breakup, and she needed to spend some time having fun. She was a famous dancer, and she also sang and rapped very well. She was one of my most talented friends.

“Hello? Yoona?” she answered, sounding bored.

I answered carefully with, “Hey, Eun Mi. Do you want to hang out?”

“Sorry, I can’t today, Yoona. Maybe some other time,” she said through the phone. I knew she was lying, but I left it alone and hung up.

I sprawled out on the couch, feeling utterly bored. What could I do? I spent most of my time alone doing absolutely nothing. However, finally Jae Hwa called me, to come to my rescue.

Excited, she’d said, “Yoona! Let’s go to the beach, I know you’re bored and alone; so am I!” I agreed to her request, relieved that I would have something to do. Who didn’t love the beach?

“It’s so sunny, let’s swim, Yoona!” she screamed, and I laughed, running after her. We had so much fun, splashing each other with the water. It was a really happy day. That night, I fell asleep and had good dreams instead of bad. That was a relief.
