Chapter 17: I Will Love You

Promises made, promises broken. What does it really matter? Give or take, something always takes away from our happiness. It never matters how much we protect it, it will happen.

I rolled over, and fell off the bed.

“Ow,” I muttered, rubbing my head. Seung Hyun’s head peeked over the edge of the bed.

“Don’t hurt yourself, now,” he said, laughing at me. I stood up, and punched his arm.

Still a little tired, I said, “Shut up.” I stretched, and went into the kitchen in search of food to eat. I poured a glass of water, and just made rice to eat. I was done within minutes, I guess I was hungry. I went back to the bedroom, where Seung Hyun was still laying, being lazy.

“Get up, Seung Hyun. I want to have fun,” I told him, shaking him. He looked up at me, pouting. I went and grabbed a pair of shorts and tank top from the dresser, and got changed.

“What if I’m sick?” he said, smirking at me. I rolled my eyes.

Shrugging, I told him, “Whatever, I’ll go walk around alone, I guess.” Immediately, he jumped up out of bed and got dressed. I laughed.

“You can’t go anywhere alone,” he muttered under his breath.

“You don’t trust your wife?” I teased him, still smiling. He threw my coat at me, and left the room. I put on the coat, and went to the front door for my shoes. I went into the spare room; Mi Sun was still sleeping. We wouldn’t be out long. I just wanted to buy more food. We left the house, and it started to rain.

“Yes! I love rain!” I cried out in happiness, almost dancing in the liquid drops from the sky. Seung Hyun laughed, taking my hand and pulling me closer.

Looking at me, he said, “You dork.”

That walk didn’t last very long, and before we knew it, we were on the couch watching movies all day. I was cold, so I held Seung Hyun, who held me back. I was instantly much warmer.

“I will love you,” I said quietly. “No matter where I am,” I finished.

“Why are you saying that?” he asked me, confused.

Answering his question, I replied, “Because people who love like us, something bad always happens. I’m letting you know this ahead of time.”

“Don’t think like that! Nothing bad will ever happen to us, that’s just in those dramatic shows and books,” he muttered angrily.

“Just in case, I wanted you to know,” I whispered.

Gently, he answered, “Well, you’re the only one I’ll ever love, the only woman I’ll be with.” I smiled at the thought of him saying that. It comforted me. I felt at peace.
