Chapter 4 : The Wedding
It was weird, being in a wedding dress and we’d only been engaged for a month. But that month was the most agonizing month ever, because I just wasn’t getting what I truly wanted. I knew after tonight, I’d have everything I ever needed. It would be the best night of my life.
“Are you ready yet, Yoona?” Jae Hwa asked me, from her little corner of the room. She was my Maid of Honour, of course. To my dismay, Ji Yong had begged me to invite So Young to the wedding so that he could be with her. I’d love everyone there except for her and my brother. I only invited my brother because I wanted to somewhat please my parents.
I was feeling really nervous that everyone I cared about (except two people) were going to be there to witness the biggest event in my life. I didn’t feel like messing up. Seung Hyun and I were working so hard to keep the wedding away from the eyes of the public. I’d basically snuck into the dress shop when looking for a dress. If anyone saw me, it would have given it away.
“I’ve been ready since I met him, the question is, will I mess up royally?” I grumbled, trying to keep still as the make-up artist finished applying the eyeshadow. The girl was actually Seungri’s girlfriend, Rylee. Apparently she was from Canada, and she only spoke a little Korean, but she was cool. I liked her.
The time spent in that room seemed so little by the time I had to get out there. My hands started to sweat a bit, and I tried to relax. I met my father outside my room, and he begrudgingly took my arm in his, and lead me to the altar. In an attempt to relax, I focused on what I’d be busy with tonight, and I felt my face get a little hot; I was blushing.
We finally made it to Seung Hyun, and my father placed my hand in his. I smiled up at him. His mouth silently sounded out the words ‘you’re beautiful’. I smiled wider, listening to the boring voice of the priest going through the whole wedding ritual. I was thankful when he got to the vows.
The priest asked Seung Hyun, “Do you Choi Seung Hyun, take Kim Yoona to be your lawfully wedded wife, through sickness and health, to love in good times and the bad, to comfort her in times of sorrow and struggle?”
“I do.” he said, proudly, smiling down at me.
The priest then continued to ask me, “Do you Kim Yoona, take Choi Seung Hyun to be your lawfully wedded husband, through sickness and health, to love in good times and the bad, to comfort him in times of sorrow and struggle?”
“I do.” I told him. If it was even possible, I was smiling even more.
As I put the wedding band on his finger, I said, “May this ring forever be to you the symbol of my growing love. With this ring, I thee wed.”
As he placed mine onto my finger, he repeated, “May this ring forever be to you the symbol of my growing love. With this ring, I thee wed.”
The priest then stated, “I now pronounce you man and wife. You may now kiss the bride.”
Seung Hyun turned to me and kissed me, very gently, but the kiss ended too soon for me. I hated all the people around, we could have had a longer kiss. We could have escaped. Instead, we had to go to the reception. It seemed like it lasted forever, but the slideshows and the bride / groom trivia was humorous. The part I disliked the most, was when So Young had came up to “congratulate” us. She had an evil glare in her eyes, and I knew she hated me. I took pride in that. Finally, we could go home. I was so relieved to be able to get into that car and have the night I’d been waiting for. The drive was long, and I fell asleep in the car, but that didn’t stop me when the two of us were at our house. I hummed impatiently as Seung Hyun was unlocking the door. I looked out on the street, hearing loud voices, and I panicked when I noticed them.
“Oppa, hurry. The photographers are coming!” I whispered in his ear frantically. Just then, he unlocked the door, and gently pushed me in, before they could see me.
Calmly, he said, “Go close all the curtains, those guys will do anything to get a good picture. I’ll lock the door and set the alarm, alright?” He smiled, and I was once again reassured. I did as he asked, and continued to wander into the bedroom. I sat nervously on the bed, waiting for my handsome husband to come walking in. When he did, I got that feeling in my stomach; I couldn’t even describe how it made me feel. It was just that feeling of desire, and I’d finally get it tonight. We promised. I was glad I’d never even touched anyone other than him, he was my first boyfriend. My first love. I stood up, and I wrapped my arms around his waist.
“You’ve been waiting for this, right oppa?” I teased him, holding him closer. He kissed the top of my head.
He replied back with, “I’ve waited what seems like an eternity.” He closed the bedroom door, and locked it. He lifted me up onto the bed, and pinned me down, kissing my neck. That feeling in my stomach spread to the rest of my body, only it was much stronger. I don’t know if we’d ever been this close before, but it felt so right. His lips touched mine, and I was in heaven. I hoped this wasn’t a dream, and that if it was, I would not wake up until the good part was over with.
