Chapter 14: 9 Months

That’s how long it had been since my birthday, and it was a surprise to both of us. We didn’t expect it at all.

We had a baby. It wasn’t even planned, but I loved my daughter.

“Can we name her Mi Sun?” I asked Seung Hyun, feeling tired. He nodded, smiling. Even if a baby wasn’t in the plans, we were both very happy and excited. She was beautiful; I could barely find enough words to describe her.

Holding her in my arms, I sat up.

Speaking quietly, I said, “How are you, Mi Sun? Mommy and Daddy will take care of you forever!” I smiled at my promise, feeling like nothing could ever take me from my new family. I would do anything to keep that promise.

My phone rang, and I picked it up.

“Hello?” I asked.

“Yoona, it’s Eun Mi. How are you?” Eun Mi’s voice came through the other line. I was really surprised that she called.

Being extra careful, I answered, “I’m really good, but what about you?”

“Believe it or not, I’m really good. I got a boyfriend,” she said, almost screaming in excitement.

“Really? That’s cool! I’m happy for you,” I replied sweetly.

Eun Mi asked me, “Anything new in your life?”

“Well, I... had a baby girl,” I said, worrying that she’d get upset.

However, she surprised by sounding happy when she said, “Really? That’s cool!”

“Anyways, I have to go, I have so many things to do today, I’ll see you sometime, okay Eun Mi?”

We said our goodbyes, and then I hung up, yawning.

“I’m tired, I’m going to go rest, alright?” I asked Seung Hyun, who was on the couch, watching some show.

Answering, he said, “Okay, love. Sleep well!”

I went into the bedroom, changed into pyjama’s, and climbed under the warmth of my blankets. I fell asleep really quickly, but I started to have nightmares again. I tried to keep sleeping through as much of it as I could so that I’d sleep more.
