Chapter 18: Bittersweet Memories

It was raining. It was cold. There was a storm coming.

Let the rain kiss you, let the rain sing a lullaby. Embrace the rain.

I walked into the coffee shop for the first time in weeks, meeting Jae Hwa. Smiling, I sat down across from her.

“I ordered you a coffee a few minutes ago, your favourite. It should be here in a few minutes,” she told me.

“Where’s your umbrella?” she added, curious.

Laughing, I told her, “Well it wasn’t raining when I left the house, I wasn’t expecting this. So now I’m totally wet, with no umbrella, but that’s fine. I like rain.” I was completely soaked from the rain, I wouldn’t have been surprised if I got sick. My coffee came, and I felt the warmth spread through my body as I took a drink.

Jae Hwa asked me, “How is Seung Hyun and Mi Sun?”

“They’re very good,” I answered, looking up. Jae Hwa’s phone rang.

“Hello?” she said into her phone. She listened for a few minutes.

“Okay, fine. Wait for me,” she finally said. She looked at me, an apology in her eyes.

“I have to go, that’s Young Bae, he needs me to go with him, I’m sorry I can’t give you a ride. You can ask Seung Hyun, though, right?” she told me. I knew she felt bad for leaving, so I just nodded as she left. I sighed deeply, and took out my phone.

I sent Seung Hyun a text saying, ‘Are you busy right now?’ A few minutes passed before I got his reply.

‘Yeah, why?’ I bit my lip, wondering if I should tell him I needed to be picked up. I shrugged the matter off.

I wrote back, ‘I was just wondering, don’t worry. See you later, oppa. I love you.’

So Young watched Yoona from a little hidden corner in the shop, silently feeling accomplished. She called her brother.

When he picked up his phone, she simply said, “Today, wait for her. Soon.” Hanging up, she smiled to herself. She watched Yoona stand up, and walk out of the shop. Completely clueless as to what would happen when she walked home, she just walked right into the biggest storm of her life.
