D-3 | 72 Hours Remaining
The city wore its most convincing mask.
Banners were already being lined along the streets leading to the venue-white and gold fabric fluttering softly in the morning air, each stamped neatly with the emblem of the Choi Foundation.
Workers adjusted lights, tested microphones, and measured distances with practiced ease.
Cameras were being set up, though most of them were still covered, waiting for the real day.
Volunteers moved in organized lines, clipboards in hand, rehearsing positions and schedules. Everything looked clean. Controlled. Perfect.
From the upper floor of a small café across the street, Taehyung watched through the glass. He sat quietly, coffee untouched, posture relaxed as if he were just another customer passing time. But his eyes missed nothing.
"Han-seol just arrived," Kai's voice came through the earpiece. "And Commissioner Kang is with him."
Taehyung's gaze shifted downward.
A black sedan had stopped near the entrance. Choi Han-seol stepped out first, adjusting his coat before offering an easy smile to the staff waiting for him. He shook hands, nodded politely, and spoke with calm warmth-every movement carefully measured.
Every inch the philanthropist the world trusted.
Beside him, Commissioner Kang scanned the area with trained eyes, already alert, already evaluating security and crowd control.
Taehyung's jaw tightened slightly.
"Stay out of Kang's line of sight," he murmured. "We don't need problems before the event."
Two days was too close to draw attention.
"Copy that," Jackson replied quietly.
"Police are always a headache."
Kai let out a soft breath through the mic. "Han-seol's walking the venue. Checking stage placement, donor seating, exits. Looks routine."
Taehyung's eyes shifted.
Across the street, partially hidden behind a group of reporters, someone stood still.
Song.
He wasn't near the entrance. He wasn't talking to anyone. Just watching-hands tucked into his coat pockets, posture relaxed, face calm.
Too calm.
"There," Taehyung said quietly. "Song's here."
A short silence followed in the comms.
"So he's not staying in the shadows
anymore," Eunwoo said. "He wants a clear view."
"And he wants to watch you," Kai added.
Taehyung didn't reply. His eyes stayed on Song.
Then Seojun's voice came in, low and sharp.
"Confirmed. Flight data just updated. Choi Minjae is on the list. Private arrival. No media."
The air felt heavier.
Minjae was coming.
"No turning back now," Jackson muttered.
Inside the venue, Kai adjusted his cufflinks and walked through the donor entrance like he belonged there.
Because on paper-he did.
Security barely glanced at him before letting him pass.
"Donor space accessed," Kai said calmly. "Crowded. A lot of eyes, but nothing unusual."
