"Kiri I need you." He said shyly looking as his now soaked feet.

"What do u want now?" She asked harshly looking down at her small neighbors face.

"Um..." he stuttered,

"My brothers dog dug out the back fence when the storm started up and... and, I haven't a clue where too look for him." His sad eyes pleaded with her

"Ok give me a second." She grumbled but knew she would help the young boy find the puppy.

She ran up the stairs pushed open the bedroom door grabbed her boots from the closet and slipped them on her feet.

Tying the laces tight she dashed back down the stairs.

She stopped in front of him.

"Lets go she growled."

She reached for two flash lights on the table by the door keeping one and tossing the other to the boy.

Turning to the door the boy held open rain pouring into the tile floor.

Kiri shielded her eyes from the feirce rain and thundered out into the storm.

It was dark and grey as she raced across the deck, her feet pounding as they met the damp wood and water slashing with each step.

She jumped the three small steps that led down to her driveway and tore through the tall grass with Jo running close behind her.

Flashes of lightning lit the sky and the lound thundering booms making the ground shake from under her.

She stopped only when she reached the back fence twords the dark aphotic woods where light never seemed to reach.

Jo caught up skidding to a halt in a puddle caking kiri with mud as he splashed her.

She just rolled her eyes.

"Here take this." she said.

Lightly tossing him a small hand held walkie talkie that she had in her pocket.

"Stay in that direction" She motioned to the area on her right directly behind Jo's families property ,

"and I will go straight. Use this if u need anything."

she held up his hand still holding the walkie talkie.

Gripping the chainlink fence in her hands steadying herself as she rested her left foot in a hole in the fence and swung the other around quickly following with the other, than effortlessly jumping down on the other side of the fence and landing neatly on her feet.

She turned away from the fence and started her treak into the woods not even turning to see if little Jo needed any help.
