Chapter Sixteen

Unveiled

...............

CHLOE'S POINT OF VIEW

...........................................

Fear

I lived within me.

I'm an Omega. A low class wolf. I don't do the serious stuff. I joke around and have fun. I don't like confrontation. And I definitely don't like the forest at night.

I could feel them prowling around, lurking in the trees, on the ground, behind the bushes.

Watching me.

DAEMONS.

I swallowed my fear as I followed behind Aria and Kiri.

Now Aria, she was the brave one.

She knew they were watching us. She could feel it in her mind but they didn't phase her.

Nothing ever did.

Aria is a Beta.

One of the highest class of wolves. She was born in it. Her father was a Beta and so she is destined to be one too.

She is afraid of nothing and a natural leader.

She would be our leader, Alpha, if that darn fox would stop interfering with things.

There is a group of wolves in the local area. Not a pack, but rogues. They don't run together but separately on their own terms.

Every wolf for themselves they believe.

But Aria is against it. She says its unnatural for wolves to run on their own, that we are best as a pack. Loyal to one leader.

Aria is strong and brave and could be leader, except for that meddling Kitsune who has been spreading doubts in the rogues mind.

Saying that a true leader will come to power, but that Aria isn't our true leader.

Its infuriating.

We know every wolf in the entire county none have beat Aria or confronted her. Though no one wishes to run under the rule of a girl.

Saying a female has no right to be Alpha.

Stupid sexist pigs! I growled, kicking a bush.

Ari may be a girl but she is a darn good Beta, and probably a great Alpha.

Beside me the bushes rustled.

"Shh. What's that?" I asked shaking in fear.

'Please don't be a Daemon, please don't be a Daemon.' I prayed in my head.

"Where?" Kiri asked shining her flashlight through the trees.

"I guess it was nothing." I looked up to see Aria glaring at me "sorry guys."

'Stop being so paranoid' Aria's voice echoed in my mind

Kiri turned and caught up to Aria and continued the conversation they were having. Nadia and Stella were in front of them talking to Evalin and Jasmine.

As I watched them I couldn't help but notice how completely opposite Evalin nd Jasmine were.

Jasmine was short with short black hair that covered her eyes. She loved horror movies and violence and almost every part of her wardrobe was black. She hated school and school functions. Sports were a joke to her and she used boys like there was a never ending supply.

Evalin on the other hand was Kiri's half sister. She was tall beautiful and very blonde. Ev was captain of the cheerleading squad at school, last years homecoming queen and a member of at least five different clubs. She is very athletic and enjoys her morning and evening runs. Ev only dates football players and is currently in a long term relationship with Will Havert the school's star quarterback.

If it wasn't for Kiri none of us would be friends. She is the glue that holds us all together.

I just wished she was a wolf like me and Aria. Then I wouldn't have to hide so much from her.

I sighed.

"We're here!" Evalin shouted. Loud enough for us all to hear.

"Woot. Woot" Stella cheered. Running through the trees trying to reach the lake shore before everyone else.

Everyone took off after her and splashed in the shallow water. I kicked water on Kiri before running back to the shore to strip. When I was completely nude I ran and jumped in the lake. The water was frigid, but clear as the full moon reflected on the surface if the water. It was a beautiful sight until Stella quickly stripped and ran to join me in the water sending ripples everywhere messing up the reflection.

I splashed her as she shivered at the cold.

Aria, Evalin, Jasmine and Nadia joined us in the water. We were all laughing and splashing each other when I realized Kiri was nowhere in sight.

"Kiri?" I called out to her brushing my wet hair out of my face.

I watched the turquoise waves of fog that were her scent make a half circle around the lake and disappear when suddenly I hear her shout and a large turquoise cloud of fog fly through the air and splash in to the lake.

She had found a rope swing.

"Cool. My turn!" I cried as I raced out of the water and to the side of the lake where the rope was at.

I grabbed the rope pulled it back as far as I could get it and I jumped on it, wrapping my deet around it. I swung myself back and forth till I believed I was high enough and when the rope was above the lake, I jumped.

I hit the water with a splash. Waves going everywhere.

That was so much fun.

Everyone had a turn on the rope swing and before we knew it, it was morning and the sun was starting to rise and chase the moon away.

I walked to the shore, slipped my clothes over my wet body, and collapsed on the beach watching the sun rise.

Jasmine and Kiri joined me laying on either side of me.

Together in silence we watched the sun claim the sky.
