(Continued from last time...)
"It's okay, do you want to talk about it?" I shook my head quickly, almost giving myself whiplash. "Then you go back to sleep and I'll see you in the morning, okay?" he said, pulling away enough to look me in the eyes.
"Okay," I stuttered, sniffling.
He walked out of the room and closed the door, a loud creak escaping the floorboards.
~In the morning~
After getting up I decided to get ready, not bothering to go through my usual procrastination sequence. Holding my book open with my thumb and pinkie finger, I made my way down the stairs and into the kitchen. I knew my father said not to eat, so I left, saying a short good-bye. As I made my way through the village, I went to a stand and bought two apples. One I began to eat and the other rested safely in my pocket.
When I arrived at the training grounds I looked up for a second to see the others and then turned back to my book."Sorry I'm late," I whispered, sitting under a tree. My eyes raced across the pages, head every so often turning to nibble at the fruit resting in my palm.
"Didn't Kakashi-sensei tell us not to eat?" Sakura scoffed, crossing her arms.
"Yeah, but I don't care what he said. I was hungry, and there's nothing he can do about it." I said, this time slowly biting into my apple, as if to savor it. I took satisfaction in the annoyed look I received from the pink haired girl.
Finishing off my apple, I chucked it into the forest and closed my book. As interesting as it was, I decided close my eyes for a bit, giving them a well deserved rest. When I felt myself relax into the darkness, flashes of the nightmare I had resurfaced. I gasped and quickly jerked myself awake. Everything seemed to be out of focus, line blurring and shapes distorting. When I focused my eyes again, I saw a very worried father and three curious children.
"Sorry." I gave a weak smile and stood, collecting myself as quickly as I could.
"Are you okay?" My father whispered, standing beside me.
"Yes, I'm fine, let's just get started." He nodded and we walked over to two poles.
Dad explained the rules to them and started to count down. I hid in a tree along with Sakura, Sasuke was hiding in the bush, and Naruto...well Naruto was trying to fight my father head on.
"What the hell is he thinking?" I muttered.
"You and me! Right now!" Naruto yelled.
