"Camila you can't keep leading me on!" Lauren shouted.
Camila and Lauren were standing in the school parking lot, the newfound tension attracting the eyes of the students exiting the university.
"I'm not leading you on, Lauren. I really want to be with you," Camila said softly, gazing into Lauren's eyes.
"Save it, Camila. I know what you were doing with Naya the other day. Dinah told me all about it," Lauren said, lowering her voice from her previous shouting.
"But Lauren we weren't-"
"I don't want to hear it, Camila. I'm done."
Lauren pushed past the smaller girl and to her car, pulling out of the parking lot to drive back to her apartment, leaving the small girl standing in the parking lot shocked, tears streaming down her face.
Lauren kept her eyes on the road as she felt tears burning in her own eyes. She had ended a relationship that had barely begun but was yet the greatest she had ever been in.
Tears spilled out of her eyes as soon as she reached her apartment, spilling out of her eyes and onto her t shirt as she flopped onto the couch, leaving darker marks with every fallen drop.
----------
Camila was still standing by her own car in the parking lot of the university both girls attended, thinking about how much she had fucked up and how she might not be able to fix it, causing her to regret her actions more than she already did.
She clambered into the driver's seat and punched the steering wheel so hard, bruises were already forming on her knuckles.
"DAMMIT!" she screamed before pulling out and making her way back to the apartment with tears clouding her vision. The last thing she remembered hearing is the screeching of tires before everything went black.
------------
Lauren was sitting on her couch when she got a call from Normani, a mutual friend of her and Camila.
"Lauren..." Normani spoke hesitantly unsure of how to phrase her next sentence.
"Yeah?" Lauren croaked, voice strained from the near hours of crying.
"It's Camila... She was in an accident. Sh-she's in the hospital."
Lauren didn't hear another word before she hung up the phone and barreling out the door, unable to stop the guilt she felt knowing that she probably caused this.
----------
Lauren rushed into the hospital, stopping at the desk. After being granted permission, she bolted up the stairs, disregarding the elevator, exasperating herself in order to get to Camila faster.
She bursted through the door.
"Camila!" she rushed over to the hospital bed that the girl was sitting in, connected to different tubes and wires.
"Lauren?" Camila said softly, broken ribs causing pain when she spoke.
Lauren pulled a chair beside Camila's bed and gently took her hand.
"Camila I'm so sorry. I understand that you weren't leading me on and I feel like shit of accusing you of it, it's just... I got confused and... jealous..? I don't know I just-" Lauren rambled, running out of breath before being interrupted by Camila mumbling something incomprehensible.
"What?" Lauren asked, unsure of what the younger girl had just said.
"I love you," Camila whispered, gazing into Lauren's eyes.
Lauren just sat with her mouth agape. Not sure of what to do next, she slowly leaned in and placed a gentle kiss on Camila's lips.
"I love you too," Lauren whispered when they pulled back, the pain in her chest being lifted from their previous complications.
