Corrine Perry's POV:

I giggle excitedly as we all gather outside of the main building. People mainly stand with their alliances, waiting to be let inside. After the ride in the hovercraft, people are nervous and scared. I'm not. I've been waiting for this my whole life.

"Corrie, over here." Sparkle whispers loudly. I turn around, noticing everyone has gather in a circle. They're arguing.

"-we need to get weapons. Take out as many tributes as possible." Deston says, looking accusingly at Erika.

"No! Please...you need to listen to me. We need supplies. Food. Water. Shelter. Worry about the tributes later. It's vital that we get these things." She says, her expression desperate.

"What kind of a Career are you?" He says, placing his hand against her and pushing her back a step. "Are you a traitor? Working for another alliance? We focus on winning. If we can work together we could end this in a few days. We aren't gonna be here for months, we don't need supplies."

Erika doesn't seem mad any more. She seems sorry, looking at us with pity.

"Fine. See if I care. You'll see you should've listened to me." She doesn't leave like I expect her too, instead she stands her ground, waiting like the rest of us. When I decided to go solo they invited me into their career alliance. I guess they thought my scoring a 10 merited a spot with them. But really, I don't care about my alliance. I just want to win the Games.

Chloe Bloom's POV:

Airyn. Airyn. Airyn.

I need to do this for Airyn.

I can do this. I need to do this.

My worry clouds my thoughts. Breath barely fills my lungs and my heart pounds in my ears, pumping blood through my veins, reminding me it isn't over yet. I can do this. The Capitol can't bring me down. No one can bring me down.

As soon as the metal disk begins to rise my thoughts go silent. Survive. That's all I need to do. My platform abruptly stops and my eyes adjust to the bright sun. The arena isn't extremly cold, nor is it sweltering hot. It's just average. So is the rest of the arena, as seen at first glance. A nondescript forest looms behind the cornucopia and a large lake is stretched out to my right. A few cliffs are scattered in the distance but other than that its pretty unremarkable, as if the Gamemakers decided to slack off this year. Unless that's what they want us to think. I shudder. All the mutts that could be hidden in the forest, or the traps set high in the cliffs. The Gamemakers could do anything to us. Anything at all.

Airyn. What have they done with him?

Thinking of him just renews my anger at the Capitol and when the bell rings for the Games to begin I jump off my pedestal without a second thought. I hit the ground hard, stumbling a few steps before sprinting off towards the cornucopia. My pedestal was positioned on the right side of it so the tributes inside the cornucopia don't see me coming, giving me an advantage. I grab a pack off the ground and sling it over my shoulders. I'm still fairly close to the cornucopia, of not front and centre, so I'm still able to get good supplies. I shove a stack of throwing knives into my pocket along with an apple.

Where are my allies? I don't see them anywhere. I think, worried about them.

A scream echoes in my ears and I search frantically for where it came from. I look over to see Sparkle fighting Lark and so far it looks like Sparkle is winning. I try and run to help but it's to late. Sparkle runs off to get more supplies, leaving Lark on the ground. I rush towards her but she's already gone, the result of a wound too deep to heal.

"No!" I scream. I shake her shoulders, begging her to come back but someone's grabbing my wrist, dragging me away. "No!" I try to free myself from the person's grasp but it's to no avail. They drag me away from Lark and pull into a thicket of trees. Its only there that I see the tribute's face. It's Ashlyn.

"Wait here. I have to go find Poppy." She says, and with that she runs back through the bushes, towards the fight.

Altair Rikke's POV:

I shove my sister out of the way, saving her from Cody's mace. It hits my shoulder instead but I don't cry out. We can't show him we're weak or we'll lose, and we all know what has to happen for one to lose the Hunger Games. Kailan stumbles a few steps before coming back to block another one of Cody's attacks. My shoulder burns with pain every time I attempt to stop Cody's mace.

"Give up. District 9 never wins anyways. There'll be no disappointment." He smirks, swinging his mace at me again. This time it hits me in square in the stomach. "Kailan run..." I manage to say. I swear I see her shake her head but my vision is so blurry I can't be sure. I hear Cody laugh as he takes another swing at me. I feel him hit me again but I don't even know where. I fall to the ground. I can't think straight.

"Altair! Please, get up. You have to get up. Please..." Someone is shaking my shoulders but I don't know who. Darkness closes in around me but I don't know why...

Silver Hale's POV:

I sit on a soft couch in my room in the Capitol, watching the broadcast of the Games. There's currently a clip of Red chasing Gracelynn.

Red scored an 11 in training. Red is Merida's tribute. Gracelynn isn't armed.

I find myself silently wishing I could take her place. I was in her place. But I made it out and I don't think she will. This isn't fair.

Red quickly cuts her off and she doesn't have anywhere else to go. Before I can see what happens the screen switches again, showing Hanson and Zane. Zane is kneeling on the ground, his arm cut with what looks like poison. I can't hear what Hanson is saying but they are trying desperately to find an antidote. I know they aren't going to get one. The Careers have already secured the cornucopia and the odds they'll get a cure is a next to none. Zane is quickly becoming less conscious and his breathing is laboured. Suddenly loud cannons begin to go off and Zane closes his eyes, his cannon adding to the frenzy of noise.

BOOM. BOOM. BOOM. BOOM.

A/N- I am so, so sorry I haven't updated. I've been really busy with school and everything and to be honest I haven't really felt like writing this. I'll try to update again before next week. Sorry for the long wait!
