Scarlett's POV
The night couldn't be anymore hectic, with forcing Delilah to share more information however it was everything Rio shared. Letting go of Delilah and ending things with her was complicated due to being a screaming match.
Between her and Racheal until Lilith called security and got her out, now I have dealing with such a migraine.
But at the same time, all the information about Natalia getting married this Friday, which was 3 days away, was both overwhelming and nerve-racking. I don't know what the hell I'm going to do.
I needed some air and spent it out on the patio, unsure of the plan or there wasn't even a plan, I don't know what the hell I need to do.
Natalia can't marry that cheating asshole, Patrick doesn't deserve as amazing and strong a woman that Natalia is.
Everything was coming to place, I'm a damn cop, it's my job to observe and figure these things out!
But of course I was too busy with a sexy ass woman that caught my attention and took up all my time.
I screwed up so bad I felt I don't deserve her, and the worst part, I don't know what I'm feeling with all of this.
There's this ache in my heart that just been broken like a shattered mirror, all the broken pieces on the floor and all that was left was the empty fragments of it.
I hate this side of myself, my heart was shattered due to Delilah lying and is another damn Trishana that I should've known with how damn similar the two are!
Same favorite perfume, coconut with some cherries and peonies.
Red lipstick that is almost like rich rosewood, expensive taste.
How they acted, how they move, damn it! I've been played by Trishana all over again and it was from Delilah!
A mess, that's what it feels like, a complicated, messy and burning mess. The nose of the patio door opened and I know it's Lilith, I sighed.
"You were right, I shouldn't have trusted her, she's exactly like Trishana and I ruined everything. I can't believe Delilah did this, did everything that made Natalia leave but I can't blame her for it, I did this. It's my fault for giving Delilah the attention that I should've been focusing on Natalia. Go ahead and say it, I know you want to say it since you were right?"
The fact that Lilith didn't seem to be gloating, didn't seem to be making the face that she always does when she knew she was always right.
I wanted her to say it, so this all could be easier but instead, she didn't, she joined me with my blues.
"You were really into her, I totally get it, look, you didn't know. But the fact that she was in on it with Trishana was such a move that I'm glad Racheal beat her ass for it. But that's what makes it so damn frustrating."
She leaned against the railing next to me, looking out at the lights too.
“But what’s frustrating,” she added after a beat, “isn’t that she fooled you. It’s that she was involved with Trishana at all.”
A pause.
“Because that means this wasn’t random. It was coordinated.”
The words landed heavier than anything else tonight.
Coordinated.
Not chaos.
Not coincidence.
A plan.
My stomach sank a little further. “So what now?” I asked quietly. Lilith didn’t answer immediately. And for once, she didn’t sound like she already had the ending written.
“That,” she said finally, eyes still on the city, “depends on what you’re willing to risk to fix it before Friday.”
