Lilith's POV
I didn't think I would be able to really go to this damn dinner but I went so they can stop with the calls of wanting to see me, I'm ready to call Rio to hang out after this if things go south. Which it would being surrounded by the people who tossed me out but it was the best thing that ever happened to me as I got to be me.
I drove to the same address, the same house I grew up in, I rolled my eyes and prepared myself, my phone was ringing, it was Scarlett, "Hey I'm going to be busy for a couple of hours. What's up?"
"Nothing just checking on you, you got there?"
"Yeah I just arrived and I'm already dreading it. It's going to be so boring and hell with everyone there. But I'm doing it so they can stop calling."
"Hey it'll be okay. Just take a couple deep breaths and try at least stay there for an hour or two but less if they start with the same questions, when are you going to start helping them with whatever they need."
"Especially if I'm going to fund something for their kids that I don't even know. It won't be a long night, once they pissed me off enough I'm leaving and meeting Rio later somewhere we can hang out and eat. I guess I'm nervous and not sure what will go down."
"Hey it'll be fine. Just remember who the hell you are. You're Lilith. Strong and badass woman who doesn't take shit from anyone."
"You know it, well wish me luck. And yes I dress appropriately, even though I am wearing such a cute outfit."
"Well I let you go, love you."
"Love too, bye." I got out of my vehicle with my outfit looking so nice, my black lace sleeve top with dark blue jeans, black boots. I kept my hair as it is, they last saw me with black hair now I arrived with my hair being orange and yellow, I let it down, in love with it as I was never allowed to dye it as I needed to be pure and perfect.
I wasn't the only one who arrived, my brothers, Eric and Gregory arrived, my younger brothers, "At least I'm not walking in there alone now."
"You look great and good thing too you're here. Now the night won't be boring and have the night interesting."
"And we won't be watching the kids. You think you can drive us back to campus if we drink. I'm going to be drinking to ignore Joel and Nathan with their bullshit."
"What's going on there? Something I should know?"
"No nothing. It's nothing and we should head inside."
"I can't say."
"Come on."
Entering the house, immediately I was face to face my mother, with that same fake smile, "Eric! Gregory! Virginia you made it!" That smile soon went away when she took a good look at me, at my outfit and my hair, I can see she disapproved and fuming but changed her tune before I corrected her with my name. "It's Lilith. Been a while, right mother?"
"Yes it's certainly yes and I don't know what's happening here, Virginia..."
"It's Lilith and this is me."
Miriam immediately came into view and grew a huge smile, "Oh you finally made it! Isn't this great, Grace?"
"Yes. Yes it's great and you finally home. Come and meet everyone."
I was immediately met by a bump load of kids! Oh hell no, they were all happy and amazed to meet me, their aunt. The aunt that they never knew or met.
I never wanted children, I knew from a young age that I would never want to be someone's mother. To be pregnant and ruined my body of months to create something was too damn much. Pregnancy was something I would never do, unable to drink or eat certain foods, give up everything for it. Not for me and so glad Rio feels the same way.
