Natalia's POV
As much as I was hoping tomorrow won't come and something catastrophic happens, like the cake wasn't ready, the venue was suddenly booked, their checks bounced.
That definitely happens.
Checks are being bounced thinking you got everything all set.
It happened at work.
However it's not in this moment, the rehearsal that never came from the first time, now, I'm being prepared for it, and I'm drowning in nerves. I haven't eaten much, sleep, ha! Only for about 4 hours but that's just luck. Still, whatever plans I have cooked up in my head have gone nowhere in what I want to do. Frustrating as hell, my heart hasn't stopped beating I thought it would eventually escape my chest, dried up and die which wasn't the worst thing that could possibly happen. My phone has been through it, with messages coming in from Rio.
Asking how I am, he won't call if I don't want him to but to at least message him or call him if I'm up for it.
Letting me know he's on my side and won't do anything in sharing the others if I'm not ready for it. I hate doing this to him, not as someone I feel any romantic feelings for, there isn't none, just a closeness, platonic even, I know he's worried about how I'm doing. What I'm planning on doing. Even suggested he's always up for being my driver if I decide not to go through with the wedding which made me laugh after a stressful time. He's always ready for anything regarding that. I'm so tempted, I really am just up and leave, see what happens and hoping Scarlett has a way to keep her job and everything works out.
Unfortunately that isn't in the cards for me to refuse and walk out, leaving Patrick at the altar. I can't risk it.
I can't risk Scarlett losing her job, her position, can't do that to a friend. Friend.
Are we back to being friends after everything?
Or am I just going to ignore what her text message said about just wanting us to just be done with everything and forget what we had? Of course, why I thought things would be different. Even with that message, I can't do it. Scarlett can't be part of my problems.
And since the rehearsal was such a pain and awfully annoying practicing the walk and ignoring Constance's constant criticism and Patrick's non-existent backbone when it comes to his mother, this whole thing was a disaster. I am already imagining myself just possibly divorcing. Knowing damn well Patrick wouldn't let it happen, even if he did, he would just drag it out, to the point of just taking everything from me and leaving me with nothing but my name and no hope of getting everything back.
Stressful.
So damn overwhelming.
While Patrick was dealing with the staff to get everything ready for tomorrow, Constance clearly doing everything her way, I ended up not giving a damn, my phone began vibrating, I figured it was Rio, as always.
I went to a quiet corner and get it over with, I picked it up, "Hey Rio, I haven't decided if I want you to be my getaway driver..."
"Consider it, please." A quiet, familiar voice, that took my breath away, "S... Scarlett?" A long pause, so long in my head, I thought I was imagining it. And it was so long, I thought I ended it or she did but her soft, familiar breathing... Same one that would calm me down whenever I felt overwhelmed or had a panic attack that ended our sessions mid way and for her to not care and just held me tight.
"It's me. Don't hang up, please! Just hear me out...!" She quickly said, worrying I would hang up and block Rio's number, losing whatever connection to me forever.
She continued, "Listen, please just listen, don't do it. Don't go through with it tomorrow or else you'll regret it."
"I..." I didn't know what to say, nor know how to speak to her, considering what happened between us and what she sent me, "I didn't send that message." As if she could read my mind, "I know what happened, I know about... What you're doing."
She didn't need to specify what exactly, that made my heart drop, how did she... Did Rio tell her? Once again, she felt what I was thinking and feeling which was such pure voodoo, "Don't be pissed at Rio, please don't. Nat, please just listen and..." I quickly turned my head and spotted Patrick was trying to finishing up with the workers and with his mother, there's no time, I quickly said, "I have to go!"
