Alexandria
I arrived home a couple of hours later and had successfully managed to avoid Ashton after our little confrontation. I was extremely relieved that no one had seen anything, or it seemed that way at least.
Walking through the front door of mine and Cailin's shared apartment, I found her sitting on the couch watching a movie, "can I talk to you?" I asked her, knowing I had to find out how exactly she got those tickets, and if Ashton did in fact send them to me
"Sure what's up doll?" She asked
"So like ages ago, something was sent to me," I began to explain, not wanting to have to tell her that I did actually know Ashton. I knew that she'd probably find out, sooner or later, because something inside of me was telling me that he wasn't going to give up, "and I never got it,"
"What was it?" She asked, looking a little confused
"I'm not one hundred percent sure what was in it," I told her, even though I did know what it was, but I wasn't going to tell her that, "but my friend whose down from Sydney mentioned something about sending me something today,"
"Oh right," she said, "was it important?"
"Yeah, kinda,"
"When was it sent?" She asked
"Sometime in May or June," I said, "like around the same time you got the Five Seconds of Summer ticket,"
"Oh," she started to look a little; wait, no, scratch that; a lot guilty
"Cailin is there something you're not telling me?" I asked, "because you look guilty as fuck right now,"
"No I don't, what are you talking about, Lex?" She asked defending herself, "like those tickets shouldn't have been addressed to you anyways, you don't deserve them, you're not even a fucking fan!" She admitted it, she did take them
"You know jack shit Cailin," I warned her
"I know a lot more than you think Lex," she said, was I really that bad at hiding it? I asked myself, "that ticket was addressed to you, yes, but why would you even want it? You're not a fan, you wouldn't have gone anyways,"
"You don't know that!" I yelled, "you taking that mother fucking ticket, ruined a fucking friendship,"
"And what friendship would that be?" She asked, "you are aware photos of you are circulating on Twitter of you talking to Ashton, so there's clearly something you're hiding,"
"I'm not fucking hiding shit, Cailin!" I screamed, she was being so god damn obtuse about all of this, "Yeah I met him once or twice at school, we were in the same music class, but he came up to me to tell me I was a good performer or some shit," I lied, "we never associated with each other, I moved to Melbourne for year twelve. He didn't even fucking recognise me when he saw me,"
"What ever, I know you're lying Alexandria," she used my full name, and I knew this meant trouble, she always called me Lex, "and I will get to the bottom of this,"
"I don't have time for your crap Cailin, I'll never forgive you if you've ruined this friendship,"I left the living room and walked straight to my bedroom. Putting down my guitars, and walking straight to my wardrobe. I pulled out a box that contained all old photos of Ashton and I, as well as some of his old T-shirts, and some CDs he made me. I looked through the photos, wanting nothing more to rip them up and burn them, but I couldn't. I couldn't bring myself to part from all of those good memories we shared.
I was dragged out of my thoughts, by my phone ringing, I looked at the screen and saw that it was Daniel, the manager of the Exford, where I had performed earlier that night, "hey Dan," I answered, "what's up?"
"Hey Lex," he said, "do you have a minute?"
"Yeah I do, just walked in,"
"So this guy came up to me earlier with a business card," he said, "him and his band mates run a label, and he said something about being interested in signing you or something," I knew that it would have been Ashton. I knew from Cailin that they had started up their own label, Hi Or Hey Records
"Who was this guy? And why didn't he come straight up to me?" I asked
"The guy you were talking to before,"
"Oh right,"
"must've slipped his mind or something," it didn't, I knew exactly what Ashton was up to, "I said I'd give you a call and talk about meeting up with him about it,"
"Daniel, how many labels have I turned down in the past?" I asked, "you know I'm not interested in that,"
"And that's exactly what I told him," Daniel said, "but before I go, I think you should consider this Lex,"
"Why?" I asked
"The label is based in LA," he said, "you deserve this love, you've worked so hard,"
"I'm not interested, please call him and tell him that," I told him
"Are you sure?" He asked
"I'm sure," and with that I hung up the phone.
