I woke up the next morning to a knock on the door. I looked at the clock beside my bed and knew instantly that I would have to answer it, because Cailin was already at work.
I got out of bed, and pulled on my pink Peter Alexander robe, silently praying that Ashton hadn't tracked me down. It was possible that he had though, all he had to do, is call his mum and ask her. I pulled the robe closer to my body, and walked the last few steps to the door. I opened it to reveal my neighbour Briella, who coincidentally was dating Luke. Ashton's band mate, "hey," I smiled at her, "come in," I stepped aside and let the blonde girl enter, "coffee?" I asked
"Sure," I walked into the small kitchen and boiled the kettle, and began making the coffee
"So what's up?" I asked, handing her a mug of steaming brown liquid
"Nothing much to be honest, just work and stuff," she replied, Cailin home?"
"No thank god!" I said relieved, "I'm literally about to contact the estate agent and ask about removing her name from the lease, so I can kick her out, I can't live with her any longer,"
"What happened?" Elle asked, taking a sip
"So this friend of mine, sent me something a few months ago," I told her, not wanting to let on straight away, that I was talking about Ashton, "and she saw the envelope they were in and stole what ever was in there,"
"I know what you're talking about," she told me
"What do you mean?" I asked, a little confused
"My boyfriend Luke is in the band with Ash," she admitted, "I was over there last night and they were talking about you,"
"Oh," I was kind of shocked
"Well not you, just about how you and Ash used to date and stuff,"
"Oh right," I sighed, "but yeah, I know that she stole the tickets,"
"Yeah, she admitted it last night,"
"I figured," she said, "so I was wondering, I know the guys are in town and all, but did you wanna go out tonight?"
"Are Ash and Luke gonna be there?" I asked
"No," Elle said, tucking a piece of hair behind her ear, "they wanna do some writing or something, and I feel like going out,"
"Fair enough, yeah we should go," I agreed, "where though?"
"Was thinking Bang, they have a Mean Girls Party there tonight,"
"Oh My God! Yes, we have to go!" I said, "should I invite Cailin?" I asked, knowing how much she loves the movie Mean Girls
"Oh God no!" Elle threw her hands up in the air, "I don't want to be anywhere around her, after her threatening me about Luke,"
"I heard about that," I told her
"Why didn't you tell me about you and Ash?" She asked
"I don't really tell anyone about it, most people would just use me to meet him or something, but until last night, I hadn't spoken to him in nearly three years,"
"Yeah I get it," she said, "it's kind of why I didn't want to go public with Luke so early,"
"Yeah, I bet," I agreed, "I will be honest though, I knew about you and Luke,"
"You did? I never told you who my boyfriend was though,"
"Yeah, I bumped in to Liz when I was in Sydney and she told me," I explainedBriella left shortly after, as she was going to see Luke. Why she didn't just stay at the hotel with the boys, or why he didn't stay with her was beyond me. I knew she was having family problems, but that was none of my concern.
I spent my Saturday like I normally did, writing new music. I still hadn't finished the song I started, and I wanted too, I just didn't have any inspiration for the lyrics. I had the music and the name, but no words. So instead I began another song. This one was something I was used to writing. One of my usual pop songs. I didn't get very far, because around an hour after I sat down, Cailin came home. I packed up my things and headed into my room; not wanting to be anywhere near her after last night. Not long after I closed my bedroom door there was a knock, "are you avoiding me or something?" Cailin asked from outside my room, behind the closed door
"What does it look like?" I sassed back, not wanting to deal with her shit
"It looks like you are, and I kinda just want to know why,"
"Well I am, and you must be fucking dense not to realise why," I scoffed
"It's not that big of a deal, Lex. It was just a concert ticket for a band you don't even like," she said, showing absolutely no remorse for her actions, "you would have done the same thing if it was Green whatever or Fall Boy or whatever crappy music you listen to,"
"That's where you're wrong Cailin," I told her, standing up from my bed, and opening the door, "I would never have opened your mail in the first place! You are aware that's a federal offence right?" I asked, "besides, it's Greenday and Fallout Boy,"
"Whatever," she scoffed, "it's not like I'd get tickets for those shit bands anyways,"
"Those shit bands, just happen to be some of your favourite bands idols you dumb ass," I told her, not even realising I just may have given away the one secret that I wanted to keep from her
"What was that?" She asked, her ears obviously perking at my slip up
"I mean, I might not know anything about them, but it's pretty damn obvious they like that style of music, the guy I met last night was wearing a Nirvana top last night,"
"His name is Ashton,"
"Like I fucking care Cailin!" I yelled, "just tell me one thing, what the fuck actually possessed you to open my fucking mail huh? What made you think that would even be close to an okay thing to do?"
"The envelope, it was Hi Or Hey stationary," she said really quickly, "why the fuck would their record label be sending you anything, let alone a ticket to the show? there's something you're not telling me! And I want to fucking know, I deserve to know,"
"You don't deserve to know anything! Not that there's anything to know! You're just a fucking fan who thinks their entitled to know everything!"
"I'm not just a fan, they love us, they appreciate us," she said, tears were forming in her eyes, and I did not feel the slightest bit guilty at what I'd just told her, "if they heard you say that they'd fucking hate you,"
"Guess what sweetie?" I said, "I don't care if they hate me for saying that and they're not gonna hear it, you're just a fan honey and it's about fucking time someone put that in your head and made you realise that,"
"You're such a bitch Alexandria,"
"Yeah I know I'm a bitch Cailin, deal with it,"
"Why are you so fucking cruel? No wonder you don't have a boyfriend,"
"Truth hurts doesn't it?" I said, and with that she stormed out of my room and the next thing I heard was the front door to the apartment slamming.
