Alexandria

Ashton and I were going stir crazy, after being cooped up in his family home, for a week. We'd had hardly any contact with anyone, other than the guys, Ashton's mum and siblings and my mum. I hated it, and wanted more than anything to leave the house, but I understood that we couldn't. Surprisingly, the fact that I was in Sydney with Ashton, didn't come across as a big deal. I guess they kind of got over it, when they realised, we weren't doing anything, out in the public. I'm sure there had been speculation in what was going on behind closed doors, but without us actually being seen, there was nothing they could comment on.

It was now, a week before Christmas, and I hadn't done any of my Christmas shopping. So I knew we would have to leave the house at some stage. If I knew this was going to happen, three months ago, I would have been prepared. I would have brought all my Christmas presents or at least brought them online, so I wouldn't have to go out. But honestly? That wasn't really the case. I needed to get out. I couldn't stay cooped up here any longer. As much as I loved having my alone time with Ashton, away from the prying eyes of the paparazzi, we both knew that we would have to venture out into the world at some stage.

We didn't really have a choice, but to go to a big shopping centre, sure there were smaller ones around, but to get everything we needed, it was probably easier just to go to the one place. Easier? Yes. Safer? Fuck no.
We got out of the car, and walked hand in hand into the shopping centre, the cool air of the air conditioning, a vast change, from the summer heat outside. We were hoping to go about our day, and not be bothered by anyone. Although, we knew that was probably just wishful thinking.

"Where to first babe?" Ashton asked, wrapping an arm around my shoulder and pulling me in
"Um, I need to get something for mum, so probably Myer or David Jones?" I suggested. I had honestly no clue what to get anyone, especially Ash him self. He was always extremely difficult to buy for.

We were walking through the shopping centre, minding our own business, hoping not to get noticed, when we bumped into someone, I never thought I'd see again, "so I guess the rumours are true," the nasally voice, of one of my former friends said, "I never thought I'd see you around here again Alexandria,"
"Amelia," I said curtly, "and it's Lex,"
"Whatever," she scoffed, "you sure have some nerve showing up here with Ashton," I took a deep breathe, trying not to react to what she was saying. I hated this girl. We used to be best friends; until I started going out with Ash, she was so jealous, and tried countless times to steal him from me
"I don't think that's any of your concern," Ash said for me, keeping his arm wrapped around my shoulder
"I thought you'd be a little more considerate seeing as how your little cheating scandal was all over the Internet,"
"I don't see how that's your business, Amelia," I told her, "and you know you're not really one to talk,"
"I don't know what you're talking about," she tried acting all innocent, when I knew for a fact that she wasn't, "you should probably be more considerate of his ex girlfriend, you know, I'm sure she doesn't appreciate you two walking around in public like this,"
"Look we're  just trying to do some Christmas shopping, that's the only reason we're out," I tried defending my actions, although we had no reason to justify ourselves to her. She was always looking to start trouble. I wouldn't be surprised, if she was still hung up on the fact that she always lost out to me when it came to Ash
"You shouldn't even be in Sydney, it's highly disrespectful,"
"No sweetheart, disrespectful, is trying to steal your so called best friends boyfriend,"
"I never did that," she feigned shock
"Really?" I asked, "you really think I'm going to believe you?"
"Lex," Ashton warned, "maybe we should just leave,"
"Yeah," I nodded, wanting to get away from her, "good idea, we can come back another day,"
"You of all people, saying I shouldn't go after a taken guy?" She asked, her voice laced, with a sarcastic laugh, "I'm not the one people are calling a home wrecker,"
"No, you're not," I said, completely agreeing with her, she was right, I shouldn't really be saying she was in the wrong for going after Ashton, when he and I were together originally, "that's me, and they have every right to be doing that," Ashton gave me a confused look, not knowing why I was saying this, "but Millie, sweetie," I laughed, "there's a difference,"
"Really? There's a difference?" She scoffed
"Yeah, there is," I told her, "I didn't go after him, we just found each other, what happened was wrong, but it was some how out of our control,"
"Bull shit, you probably just wanted to say you fucked the drummer of a huge band,"
"Wow," I laughed, "you're idiocy makes me laugh, we dated for nearly three years,"
"So?"
"Give your petty jealousy a rest hun, green isn't very becoming on you," I told her, "remember you were the one who got everything, you got the solos in choir, you got the lead in the musicals, you got everything! And then when Ash and I started going out, you were just so annoyed that I got something you know you could never get," I got another look of confusion from Ash
"You knew I liked him, and you took him from right under me,"
"No I didn't," I laughed, "I told you I liked him, and you knew he liked me, but you couldn't bare me to see me have the guy you wanted. So the minute I moved to Melbourne, you saw an opening, and you tried to get him, I don't blame you honestly,"
"Lex, we should just go," he said, I honestly forgot he was there, he'd hardly spoken
"Yeah," I said, "but what you don't know Millie, was that he told me everything you tried to do, did you honestly think me moving to Melbourne, would change how Ash and I felt about each other?"
"Well it did when he went and got famous, whose to say he won't do the same thing to you, that he did to Bryana?"
"He won't," I shrugged, "like I said, jealousy isn't becoming on you," and with that, I grabbed Ashton's hand, and we walked off.
