I was ten minutes late for work. I pulled into the managers parking lot at five past twelve. Walking in I pulled my hair up in to a pony tail, in an attempt to hide the mess that had been made during this morning previous events.

No one noticed that I was late, until I got to the offices. As usual I dumped my bag in my locker, and began to walk on to the shop floor, only to be stopped by Erin, "you're late," she said with a laugh
"Yeah I know," I said, "I'm sorry!"
"All good love," she said, "but on a personal level, Lex, why are you late?"
"Um.." I didn't know what to say
"It's you're late shift, and you're usually early or on time, and you're hairs up," she could tell something was up. Usually when I started at noon, I had time to do my hair, so I usually wore it down
"I had heaps of stuff to do this morning," I shrugged, not really wanting to tell her the real reason I was late
"Sure," she laughed, "is it true you were having dinner with Ash and Luke last night?"
"How do you know that?" I asked, Erin didn't have Twitter. She'd met the boys a few times, back when we both lived in Sydney; but she wasn't a fan of them now
"Teagan, came in freaking out at about ten thirty,"
"She was early?" I asked, in complete surprise
"Yeah. Surprised all of us," she said, "but I do have to ask you something,"
"Sure,"
"What the fuck did I hear on the radio this morning?"
"About Ash?" I asked
"And your stupid bitch of a housemate," she said, running a hand through her blonde hair
"Don't even get me started," I sighed, "she's a lying little bitch, she spread the same God damn rumour about herself, just after the concert, and the fans found out she was lying,"
"Why would she do that?"
"I can't believe I didn't tell you, but Ash sent me a concert ticket to the Melbourne show and that good for nothing bitch stole it!"
"She just opened your mail?" Erin was shocked, "I knew she was a crazy bitch, but I never thought she was capable of that,"
"Neither did I," I sighed, "she spread those lies to get me to admit that Ashton and I used to go out,"
"So she basically tried to ruin his relationship, and his reputation just to find out whether or not you knew him?" She scoffed, "that's a bit extreme,"
"And it worked," I sighed, not looking my boss in the eyes
"You told her?" She asked, and I nodded, "okay so I have to ask you something else,"
"Okay?"
"Whose the guy?"
"What do you mean?" I asked, it was a lie. There was a guy, I didn't want to have to tell her though, I didn't want to tell anyone
"Honey, hate to break it to you, your shirts not buttoned correctly," she pointed to my shirt, fuck, I said to myself, "and you've uh got a little something peeking out from the collar," I looked down and saw a love bite, I can't believe I didn't realise it was there before, and to make it worse, it was in his signature shape and the place he always used to leave them. It wouldn't take Erin long to figure it out. She worked with me for the whole time Ash and I were together
"Are you fucking serious?" I groaned, I was going to kill Ashton. I just hoped that it wasn't fully visible, so she wouldn't pick up on who left it, "I'm gonna kill him,"
"So who is it?" She asked
"No one important." I shrugged, "do you have concealer? My bags are in my car,"
"Why are your bags in the car?" She asked, completely ignoring my question about borrowing concealer
"I didn't stay at home last night,"
"Are you and..." She trailed off, oh fuck, she knew, "Oh my God! Lex!"
"I know, I know," I sighed, "can we not have this conversation here?"
"Okay, fine! But seriously, I knew something was up," she began, "looks like he still leaves them the same way,"
"Yeah I know, now concealer please?" I begged, I needed to cover up the bite, I couldn't have anyone asking questions
"One sec," she opened her desk drawer and pulled out her makeup bag.

A few minutes later, we'd managed to cover up the hickey as much as possible, "so when did this all begin?" She asked
"I'm not going into any detail, because if a certain worker here finds out, she'll tell my lovely housemate and we all know what she's capable of after this morning,"
"Fine!" She gave in
"It started Saturday," I began, "I went home with him after we left Bang,"
"Honey, that hickey wouldn't still be there from Saturday night," she said, "that's fresh,"
"Well I haven't finished yet," I told her, she nodded, urging me to continue, "I was so pissed off when I woke up Sunday, that I legit stormed out, only running into Luke," I continued, "then Monday, he showed up at mine, how he got my address I don't know," I took a breathe, "and then I guess, the last couple of nights we've been, well you know," I finished
"You know he's got a girlfriend right?"
"Yeah I do," I sighed, "sadly,"
"And you did admit to me yesterday that you were still in love with him, Lex," she said, "I gotta say, this isn't smart,"
"I know," I said, "but I can't seem to stay away, and neither can he,"
"Is he still in love with you?" She asked
"No," I said, "he loves his girlfriend,"
"I don't believe that, he loves her," she began, "this wouldn't be happening, if he did. Does he know how you feel?" She asked, "because if he does, I'm gonna kill him!"
"He doesn't," I said rather quickly, "he asked and I said no,"
"You know how this is gonna end right?" She asked, "I don't wanna see you the way you were when he just stopped talking to you,"
"I'm gonna be fine, Erin," I said, "I should probably head on the floor,"
"Alright, I'll speak to you later, they're all out decanting," I nodded, "oh and Lex?"
"Yeah?"
"I'm coming to your gig tomorrow night, and I'm expecting to see Irwin there,"
"Well I'll invite him, and Luke as well,"
"Good, now run along, Steve's coming in later," she groaned, mentioning our regional manager, in other words, her boss.
