Florence POV

My plan was coming along great, mads was completely unaware of the surprise and i love it. She was now standing there with her hands clasped over her mouth, an audible gasp leaving her mouth. "Baby what is all this?" She asks me and i just smile at her for a second. "It's a little surprise for you. Because i knew you'd need a little distracting before tomorrow and because i wanted to." I answer her and she's quiet for a minute, taking it all in while smiling.

Just as i start worrying she might not like it she closes the distance between us and wraps her arms around my neck. "This is so beautiful angel! Thank you i love it" she says and pecks my lips. 

On the beach a few feet away from us is a nice picnic blanket filled with rose petals, candles and all our favorite snacks. She smiles so wide as she looks around before sitting down and i just stare for a moment, taking it all in, realising how lucky i am to have her in my life.

We sit there enjoying our food, feeding each other while laughing at the stupidest things you can think of and suddenly i start feeling a little nervous. What if she doesn't like my surprise? Before i can spiral i force myself to do it now. "my love i have a little surprise for you" i say and she turns to give me her full attention.

"I know it may sound cheesy but it's true. We haven't known each other that long, but i already know that you are it for me. I don't ever wanna be apart from you because you make me wanna be the best version of myself. When i look at you i can see our future right ahead. And i know we're both still young but..." i say and then i take out the little box. Madeline gasps so loud and her hands fly to her mouth again.

"I want to give you this. It's not an engagement ring or a big proposal yet,  but it's a promise ring. This is my promise that i will always love you, cherish you, take care of you and i will never hurt you. Not only does it promise all that but it's also a promise that when we're older and the time is right that a real engagement ring will show up on you're finger and you'll be mine forever." i finish my little speech and i see that she's crying. 

"Angel i don't know what to say. How? When? I mean what? this is so crazy. i didn't see that coming at all." she say between sniffles and i wipe a fallen tear with my thumb.

"It's a darry ring, the kind you can only buy once because i know for sure that you are the one i wanna spend the rest of my life with" i say as i gently put the ring on her finger. "Thank you so much angel. i love it and i love you more" she says and we both lean in and find each other for a kiss.

The rest of the night exists with both of us stealing glances and kisses from the other, mads looking at the ring every two seconds and me laughing because she's to cute. We finished the rest of the food and drinks and quietly started packing up and getting ready to go home. After all it wasn't smart to stay out late seeing that the wedding is tomorrow. 

"Wait until all my mamas see this, they'll freak out" she says as we walk home and we both laugh while we guess their reactions. I've noticed she slipped the mom for Scarlett a few times but i didn't react to it because i didn't wanna scare her off or something. I mean it's good that their relationship is getting to that point and i'm sure Scarlett will be thrilled the moment she calls her mama. 

The rest of the walk home was quiet. Madelines head was on my shoulder our hands intertwined. I honestly couldn't be happier than i am right here and right now with this girl by my side, and tonight was just a reminder that this was promised to be my life until we're grey and old, and i wouldn't have it any other way.
