Nina
~"Can you slow down?" Sara complained for the fifth time, whining about my speed.
I unlocked the car putting the groceries into the trunk.
Sara stopped short a few feet from me, her arms crossed over her chest.
"Why don't you just talk it out?""Nothing to talk about. Now can you move?" I said dismissive and contemptuous using the car key control to lock the doors back.
I tried moving around her but Sara blocked my path. She was too strong to challenge and to be honest I would crumble if she challenged me in any aggressive manner. "Hey now. I'm not the one you're mad at."
I sucked in my own naive attitude, not pleased with myself for being rude toward Sara. She was my pack and a friend. "I'm sorry. It's not you."
Sara snorted. "O...I know that." Sara's sarcasm was noted. "And deep down...it isn't Mckayla either." Before I could argue, Sara raised her hand to silence me, dominance coming out in strong authority. "You think Mckayla is the only one keeping the pack on edge." Sara shrugged, waving her hand in varies angles. "If I'm being quite honest its actually you more than Mckayla who's bringing our pack anxiety."
This time my face contorted to a bigger frown, perplexed by what she said. How was any of this my fault? "What are you talking about?"
Sara gave me that, 'don't act innocent' look that told me she was being honest and I wasn't seeing clearly. "With Mckayla becoming a hybrid...we all prepared to feel the stress it may have on everyone. We all accepted and prepared for it...that's why we're not bothered." She pointed at me and I took a step back nearly walking further into the street where a car was coming through. Sara yanked me back to her as the car wind swiped me.
I blew out a breath, thanking whoever made us up there pass the clouds. I could survive being hit by a car but it would still hurt very badly and the doctors would be confused when they realized I no longer needed their care after a few hours of super fast healing.
Sara looked relieved pulling me forward in time. We stepped onto the sidewalk finding it a safer area to talk, watching a few humans walking by. I hated thinking like that. Humans. They were people just like us, just a different kind of people.
"Look...we accepted Mckayla, but you haven't. And that is what we feel. We feel your anger, pain, and sadness in what Mckayla has become. We know you hate Elena. You blame her."
"Damn right I blame her," I shouted with snarl under my breath.
Sara straightened and turned to the few...people, who were originally walking by and stopped clueless on what to do because of me. Sara smiled almost sadistic and by the way the few guys scrambled away I knew what she done without seeing her face.
"Why did you do that?"
Sara shrugged. "Felt fun to do. All they will think is I did a little magic trick with my eyes. Harmless."
"Whatever." I sighed, running both my hands through my ink black hair.
"You do realize...Elena is a vampire..." I looked at Sara with no humor in my eyes.
"I'm just saying. From what we've learned about vampires...the good and the bad..."
"I didn't really sit around our mini campfire listening to her stories," I said dryly.
"Of course you didn't. But I'm sure you heard enough with our far hearing abilities that if you were a vampire being starved for a few months and basically someone with dinner through a vein full of food into your caged cell..." she added high-definition on the word caged..."you would have lost control and drank from Mckayla too." I was about to argue but Sara continued. "You would have given sympathy to Elena and been thankful she stuck around as long as she did to help Mckayla through her transition if you understood that." My mouth opened again, and again Sara spoke even louder, this time making me pout. "And you would have probably gotten to know Elena realizing she's hell of cool with no tricks or games on the side. She actually cares for more than just Mckayla, but also this pack. If you would get out of your head of anger and jealousy...you could tell she has been healing this pack."
