Mckayla
"This is fucking insane." I leaned against the hard Rocky walls of this cave. My body was tired. We'd been here for hours and the smell of dead people and ghouls weren't getting easier for me to handle. "How long is this going to last?"
Elena shook her head, wiping her forehead with the forearm sleeve of her shirt. "Damn...I have the taste of ghoul blood in my mouth."
I laughed making fun of Elena. "Does it burn, too?"
Squinting her eyes, Elena held her middle finger up. "A little. Hopefully it kills off my tastebuds."
One side of my face curved into a grin. "Hopefully." Incoherent groans came far down the cave, coming in closer than expected. I held the machete up, preparing myself for another round. Looking over at Elena, back leaned against the walls of this eerie cave I spoke swiftly, "don't get lazy on me."
Grunting, Elena stood erect keeping a firm grip on her two knives. "After you."
Right as the first ghoul lunged at me I ran toward it, last second running up the wall as if I took a scene from the Matrix I watched as a cub with Nina, swinging my machete like throwing a curve ball. It's head sliced off with easy precision. As I leaped down I penetrated the machete into a second ghoul, watching two more ghouls run past me in a twitching motion that could pass as humans looking possessed.
Elena front flipped over the two ghouls, swinging her arms backwards as her two knives went into the back of the ghouls skulls.
"You're a badass now?" I smirked at the way she pulled the knives from the ghouls head, her eyes sapphire, lighting up the cave.
She narrowed her eyes at me. "I'm not the one being a ninja, climbing up walls."
"Yeah...about that." I patted the wall, than pressed my ear into it. "There's a room next to this wall."
"Hmm." Elena walked her few steps over, placing her hand along the wall. She closed her eyes and I was sure she was feeling the vibration of sounds on the other end of this caved wall. "This wall has to be no more than four feet thick."
I nodded. "Shall we make ourselves a new entrance point?"
"With our abilities, we can do whatever we want."
We were placed in a dangerous position, killing ghoul after ghoul and not by our own choosing but despite all that, somehow Elena and I relationship was silly and teasing. An unusual time to be smiling but not hard to do, even at a time like this.
"How about you take the lead this time?" I told her.
Elena nodded and as she took her first viciously powerful punch into the wall, more ghouls were approaching.
"I'll handle them. You continue." Elena nodded and punched into the wall again, rocks and wood breaking out into thick pieces.
My eyes caught onto the closest ghoul approaching. I could tell the ghoul use to be a man once, his entire appearance seeming as if he was put through some poisonous gas or radiation. He was definitely a freshly turned ghoul, looking more human than the rest.
In our last few feet of distance, his body recoiled as if pulling back a trigger to a gun and than lunged his head at me, doing his best to bite into me. I held my machete into the ghouls path, it's head penetrating through the machete.
Two more were right behind him. I snarled, my hybrid reeling out of me as I swiped the machete across its neck, decapitating the first ghoul. In the same motion, I did a high side kick to the ghoul rushing me, smashing its head easily into the caved wall, as my boot connected to its skull. The ghouls skull was clearly fragile by how easy it smashed into the walls.
